KOE (ex Canterbury Cup) and Jersey Flegg

BLM01, the first half was just like the start of the NRL match last night. Missed tackles, dropped ball and penalties. 6-22 at half time. The 2nd half was much more even with the Dragons having plenty of chances but handling or poor last tackle options letting them down. One last play option...

KOE (ex Canterbury Cup) and Jersey Flegg

My first look at JF for the season. Strong win 32-12 after being down 10-0 after 15 mins. I am reluctant to say much about individuals on my first look but Nicholas Tsougrannis on an edge was very impressive with a number of runs straight up the centre. A pity we are losing Jack Bostock who has...

    The Rumours Thread

So Slippery, under your scenario, what happens if the three youngsters dislike/hate the next coach? I know that youngsters no longer automatically respect their elders but being the determiners of the club's coach at age 19-20 is a bit much. The big danger at their age is thinking they know...

    Tyrell Sloan

Brad, I think the biggest issue with Tyrell is he needs to overcome his weaknesses. I have watched him live 3 times in the NSW as well as his NRL appearances, a couple live but most on TV. It seems to me he has 3 main issues to address: 1. (Taking Hook's comments here) Helping organise the...

    Tyrell Sloan

Justa, you have presented a possible future problem. But it's not an uncommon one. Some clubs deal with it successfully - think of the Storm with C.Smith, B.Smith and now Grant. Brandon is leaving after this year but the Storm must have carried 2 of these 3 hookers for maybe 6 years(?) Thurston...

    Round 9 vs Storm

Johnno McJohnno wrote: We had speed. We had Dufty, Field, Saab, Garrick. Frizzel and McInnis in the forwards. Of those who would we want back? I would say just Garrick and McInnes, not Saab because he clearly didn't want to play for us. Of the above list only Dufty and McInnes left under...

KOE (ex Canterbury Cup) and Jersey Flegg

Good post, DD, I was pleased when I only got charged $5 entry but by the end of the game felt the Dragons hadn't given me $5 with of entertainment. Only threatened the line in the last 15-20 mins. And as usual, at this club currently, no favours from the ref. I am assuming anyone reading this...

KOE (ex Canterbury Cup) and Jersey Flegg

It was fascinating to watch both Tyrell and Moses in their respective games last Sunday. Both were impressive. But Mbye couldn't have done what Sloan did in attack, running for 200+metres, scoring two tries and almost setting up a spectacular length of the field try except for a poor pass on...

KOE (ex Canterbury Cup) and Jersey Flegg

Denis, the problem is that once numbers 18-24 are released from the NRL squad to play NSW Cup there are few spots left. Coric played the last 20 mins or so on Sunday and looked impressive, made big metres. In this case I don't think "dropped" is the appropriate word. Neither played NSW Cup vs Wests.

    Round 9 vs Storm

Occasionally over the years, fears of a thrashing have brought out the best in the Dragons. Additionally even the best teams find it hard to consistently thrash opponents. I have not watched either of their last two wins but I am assuming that a lot must have gone their way to register so many...

KOE (ex Canterbury Cup) and Jersey Flegg

Yes, Dragon David, 4 in a row. Denis Preston, four big losses then Jayden Sullivan played his first game and things turned around. Yesterday without him Branxton Wallace was halfback - I assume he is the half from JF. So another specialist from the system rather than stopgaps like Brad Deitz...

KOE (ex Canterbury Cup) and Jersey Flegg

A big win to the Dragons 46-16. Frankly they were so dominant the score flattered the Magpies with 2 dummy half dive overs and the final pass stopping the Dragons scoring more runaway tries. A notable win, being the first without Sullivan. If you hadn't heard of Tyrell Sloan you would want to...

    Round 8 vs Tigers

Moga not playing in NSW Cup either despite being named an hour before the game. Maybe injured in warm up - hope not a sign of Suli being out.

    Josh McGuire

When Fui hit Pap McGuire was in the bin and Fui was desperate to shut down the backline movement. Having said that the tackle looked pretty bad. On the other hand, I think his 5 weeks suspension for the tackle on the Eels winger was really tough. It took no account of Dunster continuing to...

BLM, No 8 was Poasa but your description of "Poasa with hair" should win you a literary prize. I was confused by the hair which together with his energy made him look like a raw, but excited, youngster roped in at the last minute. You are right too about him going 100 mph! I know it's KOE not...

    Round 6 v Knights

Time to bring back the Club Championship! Anyone recall when the CC died?

KOE (ex Canterbury Cup) and Jersey Flegg

So far this season any win is well worth celebrating. From the perspective of the future of the NRL team probably not much to report. Gojetski ran very strongly. Good to see Sullivan live. Generally played well but I especially liked seeing him defend some attacking kicks with great...

    Tyrell Sloan

While not feeling qualified to enter the debate over whether the club is best suited to Sloan being currently in the NRL or NSW Cup teams, I recall something I couldn't understand last season. Before being called up for his initial NRL game Tyrell played a couple of games on the wing in NSW Cup...
