    Stalled and stagnant Sydney clubs

Sharks 2021 report was released a few weeks ago: https://sharksatkareela.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/2021-Annual-Report.pdf Sharks Football club made a $19,034 profit in 2021 (2020 - $56,714 profit). The development sale has no impact on the Football Club accounts, so the there is no...

    18th club, whose next?

Just because the Warriors have terrible management and been abysmally run, doesn't mean the owners of another NZ team would run it just as badly

    18th club, whose next?

You're right on this one, this is something NRL need to do a lot better

    18th club, whose next?

a Perth 7pm (9pm east coast) game would just cannibalise audiences watching the current east coast 8pm game. Can't see Fox or Nine paying for that

    18th club, whose next?

I think you'll find that with most Perth sporting teams (West Coast, Fremantle, Scorchers, Wildcats, Fever) already on Fox/Kayo, if people in Perth/WA wanted Fox/Kayo, they'd already have it

    18th club, whose next?

I think you'll find Fox value that extra timeslot a lot lower than you think. Getting Nine in Perth interested could create long term value but

    18th club, whose next?

That was a point re Perth Red saying that Perth will bring a new timeslot. The options for new timeslots being Thursday 10pm, Friday 10pm, Saturday 9:30pm and Sunday 6pm (all times east coast time)

    18th club, whose next?

When do you think that new timeslot will be, and which network(s) do you think will chase it? Thursday 10pm Oz east coast (midnight NZ) - with work and school for the majority of the population the next day, can't see this one being sought after by Nine, Fox or Sky. Friday 10pm Oz east coast...

    18th club, whose next?

And as a follow on, i don't see Perth getting a team, whether that be as team 18, 19 or 20, purely on the basis that the NRL basically said the only reason they expanded with the Dolphins was because the broadcasters would fund it. I don't think Fox, Sky or 9 would be prepared to pay more for a...

    18th club, whose next?

IMO, the next team will be NZ 2. The NRL telegraphed for years where they wanted team 17 (Brisbane, in particular Redcliffe) ) and they've already been throwing out suggestions for team 18 being in NZ. Another kiwi based team means less Oz based (particularly Sydney) teams having to host the...

I read somewhere that Abdo has said that there is a definite possibility of them adding team 18 before the end of this new deal

    2023-2028 next tv deal discussion

I think Roy has just stuffed up re the $130m inc NZ money. The other article i linked was quite clear that Nine was paying $115m cash + $15m contra per year, with no mention of NZ. Given that Nine own the SMH, it's hard to believe they'd get that so wrong.

    2023-2028 next tv deal discussion

Below article from Roy Masters suggests Fox is paying around $300m per year. He also suggests the $130m per year Nine is paying includes the NZ $32m per year https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/this-is-a-good-deal-for-the-nrl-they-should-be-commended-for-it-20211220-p59j3v.html

    2023-2028 next tv deal discussion

$575m over 5 years, average $115m per year cash, $15m per year contra. Apparently the last deal also averaged $115m per year cash, but only $10m a year contra. If the total tv rights deal per year is $400m + and given the NZ deal was rumoured to be $160m over 5 years (32m per year), this means...

The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

Shark Park is privately owned by an organisation which is not for profit. There are loads of examples of NFP's receiving government (Federal and State/Territory) funds to provide community services
