I think Des Hasler is damaged goods after he's failed stint with the Titans. I know State of Origin is a different beast to coaching club footy. But if the reports are true that Hasler is looking to retire. I just can't see NSWRL going in that direction.
The Geoff Toovey suggestion makes more...
Josh Hannay returns the Gold Coast Titans to the merry-go-round of an upcoming assistant coaches, following the tenure of Garth Brennan and Justin Holbrook. Holbrook was a Super League coach, but was still untried as an NRL head coach. It's probably not the Titans' fault, though, as there isn't...
In some ways, the Titans can wait for Craig Bellamy. They could persist with Des Hasler, contracted until the end of 2026. Then, Bellamy finishes up with Storm, moves to the Gold Coast to be closer to family, and can take over.
This plan, though, has many risks and what-ifs. Bellamy may have a...
Kevin Walters has been mentioned in the media as a candidate for the Titans. The only reason Walters probably holds some weight is that the Titans were very interested in Walters after his State of Origin success. I think it was not long after the Titans had parted ways with Garth Brennan in...
Knights are in an awful predicament with Adam O'Brien because it's a massive payout if you let him go. It's a tough situation because if the losing keeps happening, the situation is untenable. But clubs should be run like businesses as well. And it's a bit rich when they call for a bigger slice...
I've read Des Hasler has dropped Tanah Boyd from halfback. Moved Kieran Foran to half-back, Jayden Campbell moved to five-eight, and moved AJ Brimson to fullback. I know some have suggested this change should have happened sooner. But I can see Hasler reluctance to mess with the spine.
It's...
It sounded from Greg Inglis comments he started to tire of hearing about it from NSW that he should be playing for them. It did get dredged up a fair bit during his career.
"I definitely think they should just get over it and move on. I hear they're still going on about it but I'm not changing...
I'm not sure. You may be right but I can't see it mentioned anywhere. And it wasn't advised of this during the broadcast.
But articles that have mentioned Andrew Johns returning to the Sunday Footy show make no mention of it being cut to an hour. Which makes me think this may only be a...
I'm surprised no one mentioned it but the show has been cut down from two hours to a one hour show. The best part of the show inside the ten has now been scrapped. And they didn't even show any analysis from the Raiders vs Sharks game with only just some highlights.
From the looks the show...
Anyone want a reason to hate the Roosters again? Here is one Brandon Smith has indicated he will be signing with the Roosters.
Seriously, though Smith gets to win and play hooker so I can see what he signed there. I still think signing with the Titans would have been more interesting. And help...
I actually think this is harsh. Nick Cotric played well for Canberra, it's probably in the best interests of both parties to reunite again like Justin Hodges with the Broncos. If Canberra can get him with the Bulldogs chipping in they should take it.
Interestingly the old Footy show episode of John Ribot and Ray Hadley clashing during the Super League war has been uploaded. For anyone who is interested......
Dylan Napa looks like he could be headed to Super League. I'm generally surprised he couldn't find a NRL club if its the case. If Ryan James and Aaron Woods can find a spot. I would have thought Napa could being only 28.
I know Napa has made a couple mistakes off the field which may have played...
This story has alot of twists because Tim Sheens put out a statement that it wasn't happening. However, it was reported nine website that it was a done deal. But today the Tigers insist that it's not happening.
I suspect Luke Brooks want's out. But the Tigers are trying to convince him to stay...
If I was the Knights, and Dolphins offered 1.4 million per year for Kalyn Ponga I wouldn't match it. And Gus Gould sums it up that a million dollar player should win you 60% - 70% of your games. Ponga hasn't done that for the Knights and you could argue he hasn't earned his pay packet with his...
I know Matty Johns declined returning to the Footy Show unless the whole name was gone. And started a fresh. Channel Nine said its a brand and it should stay. I think it was reported Johns requested creative control although I think Johns disputes this. But he had just come off his own Channel 7...
Tim Sheens has put out a statement emphatically ruling out the Tigers releasing Luke Brooks.

I'm going to go against the tide and be positive. Mitchell Pearce is definitely been a good club player, he just never was a state of origin player. The amount of second chances he was given was unfathomable. Its that and the fact Cooper Cronk not Pearce led the Roosters to back to back...
Apparently the NRL wants Nine to bring the Thursday Footy Show back..... or atleast some kind of NRL midweek show. My answer is a big NO!
My fears are they will bring it back and Nine will then say 'we can't have two Footy shows on the weekdays' and will axe 100% Footy instead.
There is...
