    Almost a dozen expansion consortiums

I mean the NRL. They probably already know who they want where and when… the rest is just formality.

    Almost a dozen expansion consortiums

Probably because they already know who’s in and who’s out and don’t want any of it leaking until they’re ready to announce.

My thoughts on millhouse being an AFL Troll

Honestly couldn’t care what he has to say about anyone. His opinion isn’t overly valuable in my world and therefore doesn’t require much acknowledgment.

My thoughts on the NRL expanding into China

Didn’t the AFL already try this by taking games to Shanghai and it was a dismal failure? Also, out of all the “major sports” that are “expanding their footprint internationally” how many of these are actually expanding into China?

My thoughts on millhouse being an AFL Troll

This is a terrible thread and not related to NRL Expansion at all. If you don’t like someone’s posts or comments then just ignore/mute them. This thread is just high school-level name-calling bs. Just my thoughts.

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Is that actually legit? Because the letter is full of errors and even misspells his company name.

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Oh, you were talking about live. No no. The Friday WA games would always be played at 6pm or 8pm AWST in Perth (8pm & 10pm AEST for those playing at home.) or 8pm AEST Friday if they’re playing in Sydney for a 6pm WA tv audience. No one is advocating for a game to be played at 4pm on a Friday...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Why would the broadcasters have issues with additional games? The layout I proposed has 800+ minutes of football every week. FTA broadcasters only play a handful of games as it is; where as Fox/Kayo are the key investors and play every game live with a dedicated channel… so the eyeballs would be...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

That’s going to happen regardless because tv scheduling week in week out has a 6pm AEST game every week. That won’t change, it’s just about which teams you have playing in those time slots. There may be 1-2 games a year where Perth is unfortunate 6pm AEST Friday night game so yes they would be...

    Women’s Magic Round?

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

As this is based on the potential of expansion to 20 teams, which would see there being 2 NZ teams then you have an NZ team on the Friday and the Sunday. Fixed… what else you got? The issue is that it COULD break having it in one location when there is a move to 20 teams. Yes, it works ok at...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

How is scheduling of games even an issue? Major events like the Euros and World Cup already do this. Friday: 8pm NZ first game (6pm AEST) 6pm AWST Second game (8pm AEST) Saturday: 2pm NZ game 3 (12 AEST) 4pm NZ game 4 (2 AEST) 6pm NZ game 5 (4 AEST) 4pm AWST game 6 (6 AEST) 6pm AWST game 7 (8...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

“But that defeats the point of magic round”. if you’re going to take 2 games or 4 teams away from magic round because you can only physically play maximum 8 games on a field then you may as well do as I said and split Magic round into two 5 games events on the same weekend. Either all games in...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

What and just give 4 teams the bye when it’s a 20 team comp? Let’s just hold Magic Round around Origin as well.

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Sorry, but is that not covered by a 6pm kick off in WA?
  16. MrE_Assassin

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Yep, I get that, it will be much harder to do when you add an additional 2 games in that week where the conditions of the field and safety of the players has already been brought into question at the half way point of Magic Round as it is now. Throw in the Olympics and potential stadia...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Well that’s just it, how often are games in Australia on at shit times for NZ? 8pm kick-offs in Sydney you’re looking at 10pm NZ. If they’re true fans they watch anyway and if you’re inconvenienced by having a footy game on tv from 10am or midday in Australia then your life must be pretty good...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

Haha that was my thought with having magic round split across NZ and Perth. 5 in Perth, 5 in NZ. Games could start from 2pm in NZ which would give east coast viewers would have games from early morning right through to late evening.

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

That’s why I thought a Bris/GC shared SEQ magic round could be good. Still getting everyone up to QLD so it’s not too hard to attend games on different days at different stadiums. Maybe even set up fan live sites outside/near stadiums. The live sites have been amazing for the Euros in Germany...

    26 June expansion meeting (Predictions?)

I don’t see a why it couldn’t go to Perth or NZ as one-team cities. The NRL already did this with the Auckland 9s and people travelled for that to see their teams. They put on a great party atmosphere. I guess the thing that worked in the 9s favour; however, was that it was at the start of the...
