All good, mate - I mistook your tone. I apologise! But I agree with a lot of you guys - we definitely showed some very promising signs last night, and it's frustrating to think, "What if...?" had Simonson not gotten injured.

I don't agree. While they did [intelligently] target our left edge, their middles made 45 metres per set with ease, and got quick play-the-balls. I think we were valiant, and the attitude, and effort, was great, but Penrith showed why they are a cut above.

Oh, yeah. "That's a crock of shit," is passive language, for sure. Seeing as we are now casting aspersions on one another's characters, rather than taking onboard what is said to you about how you talk to people, I guess it's just easier to gaslight, and bury your head on the sand.

    Rumours and Stuff

I didn't question our attitude, or effort. Did you forget the tries that Penrith butchered? It doesn't take away from the fact that we are a class below them. And why are you so aggressive? The hell is wrong with you? Is this not a forum where people can discuss matters? Or do people...

I'd love Bennett here. Can't see it happening.

And I agree - we won't be getting any better under BA. This is as good as he gets.

Yes, losing a winger is definitely a mitigating factor. But the ease with which Penrith rolled through the middle is a big problem.

    Rumours and Stuff

I think if we can learn to defend better, we will beat better teams, simply through forcing them to go away from their structures to try to score. Penrith were breaking our line at will tonight, which meant they could stick to their structures, and pile on points. And because our defence is so...

Rd 2 2024: 8pm Penrith v Eels GAME DAY THREAD @ Bluebet Stadium March 15th

The Panthers are several degrees of class above us, and it shows.

The Grand Final was one game, though. And we did ok in terms of scoring points last year - we scored 587 points last season, which was more than the Raiders, Warriors, and Roosters, who all finished in the 8. But we conceded 574 points - more than every team in the 8, bar the Raiders.

I'm not sure he'd be the missing piece, though - our goal-line defence is big ordinary, and has been for some time. We have no problems scoring points - it's stopping them that's the problem.

His job, as a fullback, is to also organise the defensive line. He's not great at that, nor is he at car hibf bombs, or tackling. Superstar player, would love him at Parra - but not over Gutho.

I rate Walsh. He's an excellent player. But I would not swap the abilities that Gutherson brings to the table, for those that Walsh does.

There been reports about his poor attitude before.

    Rumours and Stuff

A few different coaches have had a crack to try to fix his defence, and have not been able to do it. Sure, he's only 22, but he has a pretty poor attitude - what reason is there to think he will improve his defence? I think he's a great player, but attack is only half the game. While Walsh is...

The King should never be swapped for someone like Walsh. Sure, he's better at attack - but he isn't a leader, cannot defend, and has a poor attitude. Clint Gutherson for PM.

    Rumours and Stuff

For all his attacking prowess, Walsh is a deadset liability in defence.

That's the game I was at. Hayne was on fire early, and we capitulated.

From another perspective, I attended an Easter Monday game at Homebush about 5 years ago. I will never do so again. Insane lines, it took 4 hours to get home after that game... No, thank you.
