Fiji's bid for 18th NRL license

Hadn't seen anything about this story till I went over to Fiji, but this was in the Fiji Sun last week: Fiji’s NRL Bid Boost Feedback: waisean@fijisun.com.fj* · Mar 16, 2024 Government is expected to strengthen the country’s sports tourism sector by endorsing Fiji’s bid to be the 18th...

2024 Jerseys, Sponsorship, Logos discussion etc

This should have been the Broncos alternative for the year (versus what they wore to Vegas). Enough contrast to wear against any team wearing a dark kit whilst still very clearly showing it's Brisbane.

    2024 Crowd Watch

What's your theory for suggesting that the Dolphins don't have enough fans to draw 25K against any other opposition? Of the games the Dolphins held at Suncorp, only the Titans & Rabbitohs games didn't hit 25K & were still around the 22-23K mark.

    The Las Vegas Thread

Telegraph is reporting that 1,749 new WatchNRL accounts have been created in the US since the Vegas Double Header. Whilst nothing like the numbers PVL is aiming for, that equates to roughly 400K worth of revenue at the AUD229 price point. These are meant to be in addition to the 3,000-odd...

Unfortunately nothing that concrete. 27,706 was the capacity I saw mentioned a few times in the lead up to the FIFA Women's World Cup, it was also the crowd figure named for 3 of the sold out matches played at the venue (Australia v Canada, Sweden v USA, Colombia v Jamaica) I do see FIFA listed...

Capacity for the venue was increased after the construction back to 27,706 (still down from the original 30K) I wonder if the GA seating the Storm has further limits their capacity?

    USA 2024

Nines is definitely under utilised in the US as a way of introducing Rugby Union athletes to the sport in a low commitment manner. Firstly, not only is it an opportunity to get traditional RU style clubs, like Chicago North Shore (a Premier USA Rugby team) testing the waters, but there are...

Just like the UK the biggest audiences are still consistently on FTA in the US and the biggest sporting audiences still come from FTA broadcasts or simulcast broadcasts across FTA & Cable. On the same night as the NRL, you had the following ratings on the big FTA networks: Fox : College...

Agree. It's crazy that Dragons & Souths will play at Kayo Stadium, despite both having strong supporter bases in South-East Queensland, yet Manly and even the Knights, who have far less support in Brisbane will be at Suncorp.

    2024 Crowd Watch

Sharks capacity for the start of the season is now 13,500, which I know isn't a huge increase, but for rounds like the next with so many small venues, we'll take every 1,000. Storm v Warriors is already outselling Storm v Panthers, so hopefully means it can push into 25-26K territory. Not...

Sounds like the Titans have put up their pricing if they were charging $97 for sideline tickets. Wonder if it's tied to Ticketmaster taking over.

So after 5 games, we are at 107,369 (21,474 avg) So with 3 games to go, we should get between 27K - 29K at Commbank for the sell out, 30K+ for Suncorp and then the mystery guess of Gold Coast. We'll easily crack 170K for the round, hopefully we can creep towards 190K.

No one is saying that one day of RL is a big deal for them, but it is filling an empty day for them that the ground would not be used otherwise. As for your statements, the ground has held 6 international soccer games since opening in 2021, it has 3 scheduled this year. It hosted 9 concerts...
