If it wasn't for Origin 1, a full strength Penrith team could have given them a run for their money... it could still happen regardless, but surely the odds will stretch out further.

I'll wait and see who is picked for Origin before tipping this game. At full strength this would be a beauty of a game. I'd be backing the Panthers though. But if either team has a much higher showing in State of Origin, they will be severely disadvantaged here.

IMO the certainties for Panthers are Lewis and Petero.
IMO the certainties for Dragons are Boyd and Weyman.

Matt Cooper or Michael Jennings will miss out. It's a 50/50 decision and probably will prove to be the difference between which team is favourite for this game.

Meanwhile Ben Creagh and Trent Waterhouse are both possibilities, but i think they will both be overlooked. The starting forward pack and one bench position will no doubt go to those who player for Australia. That will leave only 3 bench positions, with one of them being taken up by a backrower already.

We'll likely have at least 4 blokes out.

Weyman, Poore, Creagh, Boyd. Roughies would be Costigan, Cooper and Morris. If anything it tips the scales way back in your favour, we are already without Smith, losing Poore, Weyman and Creagh will hurt us big time defensively.

It'll be an interesting game, I think we'll still get up but I hate origin, it robs the competition of some quality match-ups throughout the season.

If this was last year , panthers would have been a chance, but this year is different :)

dragons wont be relaxing thinking all they have to do is have to turn up and get the points

Dragons have Poore Creagh, Weyman playing for NSW, & most likely Boyd for Queensland.

Panthers will have Civinoceva out.

We still have our halves, so that gives us some chance. Don't like our chances though.

Well at the moment, the following are pretty much certainties to be missing for each team.

Panthers:
Michael Jennings NSW
Luke Lewis NSW (18th man.)
Petero Civoniceva QLD

Dragons:
Ben Creagh NSW
Justin Poore NSW
Michael Weyman NSW
Darius Boyd QLD

I would imagine that Panthers have no one else in contention for a QLD jersey, while Dragons would also have Neville Costigan in contention and in some really long shot odds... Wendell Sailor.

A likely Dragons side for Friday..........

1. Jason Nightingale
2. Michael Lett
3. Brett Morris
4. Matt Cooper
5. Wendell Sailor
6. Jamie Soward
7. Ben Hornby
8. Dan Hunt
9. Dean Young
10. Micky Paea
11. Matt Prior
12. Beau Scott
13. Neville Costigan

14. Jarrod Saffy(subject to fitness test though think will be back)
15. Trent Merrin
16. Matthew Head
17. Luke Priddis

Only reason for Scotts move to the back row is because of lack of depth in this area and instead of blooding another debutant, easier to move Brett to the centre with Lett on the wing, even another option could be leave Scott in the centres Young to 2nd Row and Priddis to Hooker with Lett on Bench

Priddis will start at hooker and Young moved back into the 2nd row or lock will happen before Scott is moved. Our right side defense is one of our biggest strengths, Bennett won't change it. Morris won't be shifted from where he's been a try scoring weapon.

Here is the more likely side
1. Jason Nightingale
2. Brett Morris
3. Beau Scott
4. Matt Cooper
5. Wendell Sailor
6. Jamie Soward

8. Dan Hunt

Luke Lewis is already officially out. He can't play for Panthers as he can't risk being injured. He is the NSW safety player.

Panthers fans are hoping that Stewart is out so that we're not down a player for no reason at all.

Official Side:

1. Jarrod Sammut
2. Brad Tighe
3. Geoff Daniela
4. Maurice Blair
5. Shane Elford
6. Wade Graham
7. Luke Walsh
8. Tim Grant
9. Paul Aiton
10. Frank Puletua
11. Trent Waterhouse (c)
12. Frank Pritchard
13. Nathan Smith

14. Lachlan Coote
15. Gavin Cooper
16. Joseph Paulo
17. Matt Bell

18. Masada Iosefa
19. Sam McKendry
20. Andrew Emilio

Numbers aren't official though. But that's the side we've got on the team video.

A couple of blokes with injury clouds, hence the extended bench. Dragons fans would be happy to note that Waterhouse is one of the players in doubt.

This game could go any way, I don't think the Panthers should trouble us w/o Jennings and Petero, but we are missing 5 of ours, so I'm tipping a close one.
