Going to be interesting with the former broncos coach now with the side he lost to 7 or 8 games in a row, brisbane is like another home ground for the dragons , dragons always seems to always lift against the broncos.

last 10 games dragons won 8 broncos won 2

I picked the dragons but i dont know

dragons win by 6 then they go above the broncos on for and against

Going to be absolutely HUGE.However,I just got a feeling our attack isnt quite right to be able to beat the Broncos in Brisbane.

Bennet knows the Broncos' weaknesses.
I expect a similar onslaught to what happened in Origin game one with Bellamy and his attack on Storm players in the Queensland team.

Thats fine, he will know a shyte load about the Broncos...but at the same time, it is like going into a fight with Mike Tyson, knowing his weaknesses, but with a punch with the force of Preston Campbell.
Was not confident with the Broncos beating the Warriors, but i am very confident this Friday of the Broncos winning and winning well vs the Dragons.

Keep it going Shorty...one day you will get it right with the Broncos losing.

LMAO I knew you'd reply.
I am serious though, the guy had been coaching the opposing side for a long time and Henjak learnt under him.
I have no doubt that the Broncos will have to pull off some less predictable moves (1,2 punch won't work).

On the Dragons front, Darius Boyd is developing a nifty little fend.

2nd man play has worked for a long time for the Broncos. Everyone knows it, but it works most of the time.
Wayne is going into a fight with fence posts....the Broncos have guns.
Wonder who will win that war. :sarcasm:

Can't remember a season where the Broncs didn't get off to a good start. We have a short turn around but I'm remaining optimistic. If our attack can click this week then this game will be a cracker. I can see this game being similar to our R1 game against Melbourne. Hopefully the result will be a bit different this time around.

Broncos ready for added steel in Wayne Bennett's Dragons

By Wayne Heming
March 30, 2009
Brisbane Broncos captain Darren Lockyer knows Wayne Bennett's coaching inside out and that's why he's expecting St George Illawarra's defence to pose serious problems for his team.
Bennett heads back to Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium this week as coach of the Dragons for what will be a much-hyped attempt to halt the unbeaten 2009 season start by the club he built and guided to six premierships in 21 years.

A major concern for Bennett will be stifling the influence of playmaker Lockyer, a player he counts among the best he's ever coached or seen.

But don't expect any pre-match pot stirring from either Lockyer or his long time mentor Bennett before the NRL blockbuster which is expected to draw more than 40,000 fans.

"There's going to be a lot of hype but at the end of the day it's just another game," Lockyer said.

"Knowing Wayne he'll put a lid on all the talk from his players.

"Both camps will be the same ... a bit like a Mexican stand-off.

"Neither side will be firing any shots over the bow."

One thing Lockyer knows from his days as Bennett's general is that the Dragons - 2-1 this season but riding a surprising seven straight winning streak against Brisbane - will be very well prepared.

"I think any team Benny coaches, defence is going to be a big priority for them," he said.

"The Dragons may not have nailed it with their attack yet but their defence under Wayne has been very hard to crack."

Lockyer won't let his long and successful history with Bennett affect his emotions.

"When you take the field you're not thinking about the opposition's coach," he said.

Bennett has left no doubt about just how good he thinks Lockyer is.

"Darren is a very special leader," said Bennett when presenting Lockyer with his 300 game award at his last official appearance for the Broncos late last year.

"One of my great joys at the Broncos was that I coached him in every game he played.

"We had a very strong relationship and a very valued one.

"The fact he could play full-back for something like eight seasons and then move to five-eighth .... unless you play the game, you don't realise just how great that transition is to make.

"I'm sure when his career is over he will be an icon of the game".

Bennett knows Lockyer was the difference between him winning or losing Origins, Tests and even premierships.

Likewise Lockyer's admiration and respect for Bennett comes not just from their premierships success but also their achievements together for Queensland and Australia.

He warned before last year's World Cup that Bennett's addition to New Zealand's coaching staff would make the Kiwis an even more formidable rival and his fears proved right.

Brisbane chief executive Bruno Cullen had no doubt a win would be extra sweet for Bennett, even if the coach is unlikely to say so.

"I imagine though Wayne would want to win it," said Cullen.

"If you asked Wayne, I'm sure he'd say it's just another game.

"But I'm sure he'd love to come back and have a victory over his old club."

Dragons always beat us, it will continue on Friday, but STGI are massive end of season chokers anyway so it wont matter what happens.

Come on Shorty, you can say it.. "Dragons by plenty"

Funny that 2nd man play wasn't used for any of our tries against the warriors..

We're only 3 rounds in, but it's safe to say that Brisbane won't miss Bennett (not this year at least).

Yes but saying that if the luck went the other way the broncos could easy be 1 from 3,then broncos fans would probably say the broncos are missing bennett

I wouldn't be that upset if we were 1/3 considering who we've had to play so far, as long as the performances were encouraging.

Head says Bris 13+, heart says 2-8.

But will not be surprised if dragons win, we never seem to do well against them.
