I read in one of the many signing posts that it is being reported that Parra are 1 million under the cap.

Where is this report?

also, if true

Riddell: $350K
Tahu: $400K
Morrison: $300K
Robinson: $150K (currently on 50K at roosters according to reports)
= $1.1 million

it wouldn't be too hard to get rid of $200,000 of the cap from players going.

also - even tho these guys can earn up to these large amounts - it seems alot of it is incentive based ....and my understanding is that these incentive payments are generally paid at the end of the season and go into the next season's cap (if they get paid at all).

So really, I think only the base portion of those salaries get counted to the 2005 cap figure.

I assume all clubs will basically just keep rolling large chunks of salary into the next season to keep under the cap.

do u get fined if your like 2 dollars over the cap and that is a serious question! ;-)

Depends on the case for $2 I doubt it will matter but lets put a more realistic but still small amount on of $5,000-$10,000

If it is just unexpected payments

eg: Big injury toll so excessive number of players needing to be used.

then it would be a small for of like $1,000

If however it was an rort like the Dogs case then you may well find a big fine even loss of points.

maybe the roosters claim theirs is a small amount ($5,000 - $10,000) for each player

what about match payments, like lets say a player plays a lot more often than what the club expected....

Given we are under the cap for THIS season, we could also be using sign on fees Manly style, which count towards this years cap.

That happened with Brett Mullins and was the reason why he was released by the Roosters. He was paid his base which went under the 2002 salary cap however if he had of played the next season his match payments plus what ever he earned for the 2003 season would be under the 2003 salary cap - he was released as they couldn't keep the match payments under the cap.

That's interesting, seems to make a pretty easy way to rort the cap for players at the end of their career. Just put them on big incentive deals, which are to be paid next year and then release them! Surely, there would be some kind of constraints..

I think they have to cover a percentage in the cap but I'm not 100% sure - but that was why Mullins was released so....

I think you've misunderstood what has been written Hurri. We are definitely NOT 1 million under the cap this year. Fitzgerald admitted on 2GB earlier this year that we were a little under the cap this year, probably $100-200k max.

However, with all the players coming off contract this year (10 to 15) plus Jamie Lyon's contract, we potentially have around 1 million freed up for next year.

I think thats all Hurri meant by saying 1 mil under the cap (ie for spending next year)
