from 10 to 1 with 1 being the suckiest.

10.Panama - it appears on how many of their records? they must really really like it.

9. Diver down- (Where have all the good times gone)- Now one Ray Davies penned cover is acceptable but two? geeze can't they make up enough songs of their own?
how many covers are on this album? 3 - 4 ??? it is anyones guess .

8. OU812- now unless I am mistaken this was the punchline from a joke I told in pre-school. Idiotic stuff

7.Van Halen III - Oh dear....Gary who?

6. 5150 - A perfect example of a band clutching at straws when they lose their lead singer. ACDC should have given them some lessons in what a comeback album is ..see back in black.

5.Why can't this be love - As bad as the 80's could get. Crap lyrics with an equally crap tune.

4. You really got me - When a cover of a classic Kinks song on your debut record is the best song on it you should of really had a good hard look at yourself.

3. f.u.c.k - How old are these guys ? the worst title for an album in the history of 80's hair pop metal, they should of just wacked an "ed" on the end of it. If you think the acronym is bad you should find out what it stands for...truely woeful stuff.

2. The name "Van Halen" - Any band that names themselves after people in the band is asking for trouble. Egomania at its best.

I agree with you on points 9, 7, 3 and 1.

But then this comes from someone that rates Nirvana ...

As for the rest ...

10) It appeared on one album - 1984. Maybe you're hearing things when you listen to the others.

9) a few covers, yes, but also one of the best bass performances I've heard on an album.

8) Actually a pretty decent album for the most part

6) Great album. you're basically just wrong.

5) Wrong again, but possibly the worst song on the album.

4) Now you're sniffing petrol. One of the seminal rock albums of all time.

2) Whatever ...

Congrats Carcharias, you threw out the bait and I've bitten

I've just done a country trip out to Tamworth and was unlucky enough to do it with a Van Halen nut who brought his collection along.
I did them all in chronological order...
Panama is on about 4 albums all up, live and best of's.

The Lee Roth ones were better than sammy's stuff...but both were equally as fugged in their own ways.
Too be honest I was in my musical hell ...inside the car was Van Halen and outside was Keith Urban.

I never knew about the Kinks love fest before...
You ever heard Bowie do "where have all the good times go"?
It is a cracker...it's on his covers album "pinups".

I'll admit with you on one thing, I'd much rather prefer David Lee Roth as singer as opposed to "Van Hagar".

Oops

Van Halen is an American hard rock band. The band's first studio album, Van Halen, released in 1978 is commonly regarded as a milestone in rock music. With this first release, the band established itself as a leader in the emerging and commercially successful U.S. hard rock and heavy metal genres of the 1980s. In particular, the band's guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, quickly gained widespread fame for his technical prowess and musical sensibility. Almost overnight, he was touted as one of the most innovative and influential American rock and roll guitarists[1].

From 1978 to 1998 the band released 11 studio albums (all of which broke the Top 20 spot of the Billboard 200 music charts[2]). The band has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide[3] and has received several Grammy nominations[4]. Van Halen is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records with the most number one hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock List[5]. According to the Recording Industry Association of America Van Halen is #19 on the list of Top Selling Artists of all time (having sold more than 56 million albums in the U.S.)[6]. Van Halen is one of seven rock groups that have had two albums sell more than 10 million copies in the U.S. (the others being: Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Def Leppard, and The Beatles).

The first album, one of rock's most commercially successful debuts[8], is widely regarded as one of the most influential rock albums ever produced[9]. While it included original songs by the band, such as "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "Eruption," and "Runnin' With The Devil," the album also featured covers of the Kinks' song "You Really Got Me" and John Brim's "Ice Cream Man." The band toured for nearly a year on the basis of Van Halen, establishing their reputation as a talented and exciting live band. The early chemistry of the band was based upon the interplay of Eddie Van Halen's technical wizardry and David Lee Roth's flamboyant antics (a contrast that would later erupt into full-blown conflict). They returned to the studio in 1979 for Van Halen II, similar in style to their debut. This album yielded the band's first hit single, the poppy "Dance The Night Away."

Over the next four years, the band alternated album releases and touring to increasing commercial and critical acclaim. By 1980, Van Halen was perhaps the world's most successful and influential hard rock band (a legacy the band sustained throughout their career; in 2000, VH1 cited Van Halen as #7 on their list, "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock").

Keep up the good work carcharias doing your part reflecting the views of the minority lol. Just pray i don't do a ten to 1 on the Ramones or other punk bands, i'd be able to list a thousand reasons

Rons boring winikped thing....plus I listened to about 12 hours worth over 4 days.
I'd hate to bag them out without giving them a chance now.

It was an enlightening experience to listen to it all.

I'll give it that the bloke can play a guitar...but lets face it ..they aint no word smiths or very diverse.
You can only handle so many whammy bar wails in 12 hours let me tell you.

Satch sh*ts all over Eddie for pure diversity.

I knew "why cant this be love" ....I had heard it a thousand times on radio etc..
..but when it came on in the car I had to laugh.
I didn't know that it was Van Halen....I thought it was starship or somebody.
Fuggen tragic song that.

I still stand by my views that song wise Van Halen are not a pimple on the mighty Midnight Oils arse.

The Oils? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

having that wanker Garrett doesn't help.

I must admit that VH don't pull my chain like they once did but I'll always have a soft spot for them. And they've got some classic tracks, even with hagar.

Incidentally, when Hagar left VH and toured solo abt a year later it was probably the best show I've ever seen. Absolutely brilliant. Far better than when VH toured with Cherone later on.

At their peak and live the Oils were a massive loud rock n roll beast that could of only come from here.
I saw them do the 10 -1 concert at the hordern when I was about 12.
Garret was a maniac ....I was terrified.

I don't give a toss for politics or much of what he had to say .
I just reckon they made great rock n roll.
They are like vegemite....no other country really understood why.

I saw DLR with Steve Vai and it was a good show.

VH some how got all sterile once that hagar dude started to sing.
The albums went from sounding quite live and rough around the edges to over produced and bland .
