Frank has had one post???

I assumed that is was Frank from the rleague forum...is it?

I don't know why everyone is so hard up on Michael leaving.... It's not like we didn't offer him a contract, etc. He is a good player yes but the salary cap is MEANT to spread talent and we can't keep everyone... Losing Michael is most certainly the lesser of all evils...

I am disappointed that Phil Graham was offered the big bucks and Mick was made an offer after lesser players were offered contracts. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Graham but good halfbacks/five-eights are hard to find, outside backs are easier to come across. I don't think Graham has shown us anything besides blistering pace, and would be far easier to replace. I bet management is kicking themselves right now.

umm when Phil Graham is playing well there are constant refrences to Brett Mullins, anyone who is compaired to brett mullins is something special.... his spell in reggies is just what he needs to get his feet back on the ground..... his ability to create something out of nothing adds alot to our backline when he is there, i got no problems letting mick go if it means graham stays.........
Our Half will be macca and 5/8th will be toots as per usual next season, my only problem is if injuries occur we will need to use Campo and im not sure if he will be up for it.......
The good thing is the better Monnas is with us, Joel has a lot more potential than Mick and untill this year i didnt really see that, Mick will be a solid first grader whilst Joel will play rep footy......

BTW from what i hear Mick will be back in a few years ;-)

Your point that he is like Mullins has an interesting build up: When he is playing well. That's just it, he hasn't shown consistency not even in reserve grade. I would keep Mick over him any day of the week. I don't mind Graham, but like I say Wingers are easier to find.

You have seen a lot more of Joel though. He has had opportunities and taken them to his credit. Mick has only had limited chances. Joel will play rep footy, but look who he is competing with - Tahu, De Vere or Sing. Mick would be up against Johns, Barrett, Kimmorley, Sherwin or Timmins. There is a difference in quality there to start with.

Took me a while to find another forum after the rleague debacle, and stumbled across this one by accident.

I did indeed contribute a few dubious posts at rleague, thanks for the kind words Woodgers and Dragonfly. Good to see all the usual suspects over here too, I'm sure we can continue to sort out the Raiders' problems for them.

Back on topic, you're absolutely right Woodgers. We have seen a lot more of the taller Monaghan brother this year. And to his credit, he's made the most of his time on the park.
However, anyone who's watched a bit of premier league this year will tell you that since returning from injury, Michael has been killing 'em. This was reflected in his recall to the top grade late in the season and I think that he's just now starting to show the ability that has a few fans disappointed that he's been forsaken by the club.

It's all been said before though, I suppose we'll see how it pans out next season.

In the meantime........ go raiders, booooo roosters..........and (never thought I'd say this) go eels, booooo panthers.

By the way Dragonfly, it's spelled Grammar.

I'm a huge Mick Monas fan and would of loved to keep him. Can you imagine the combo he and Joel could of built up over the years...I mean it would be such a natural brotherly thing, they'd know what each other is thinking. Watch Mick put Joely through gap after gap this weekend.

Ahh you say Tamata i say Tamayta

I never said i was a grammAr school prefect.

Anyway I am cautious to say anyone will play rep footy these days after so many good players seemed to miss out this year.

Since hearing it said, i myself liken Phil Graham to Mullins, he seems to have an ability to pull something special out of his bum when the going is good, and once his confidence gets going (and the way the raiders are playing, it will) he will pull that special play out to turn a game rather than finish it. He is an exciting prospect.

Actualy i think i heard in Dragons camp that he was seen in a Kogarah coffee shop with Lozza?????? Is that true Frank!

Next year will probably be Crokers last with the club. I don't think he will go elsewhere but will retire. He has had a few serious injuries in the last couple of seasons and he has been one of the greatest ever Raiders and justifiably holds several records that will take some beating.

I would say Croker would be on a 250k+ wage and his exemption can be transferred to someone like Wiki or Davico.

As funny as it sounds, Macca is only about two seasons away from becoming a ten year veteran. The guy is 24 and has already played close to 140 first grade games which is phenominal. If plays out his whole career with the club he will break the most games and tryscoring records, both held currently by Toots.

Toots wants to play for another year or two.

Yes, a lot of good players did miss out this year didn't they? If you're not sporting the 'red V', it would seem to be an uphill battle.
Don't worry about our Joel though, he'll be there soon enough.

Have spoken to Phil about his knees-up with Laurie in the coffee shop, and he assures me that the meeting involved a quick elocution lesson, followed by the passing on of some tips from Terry Matterson about how to make the top 8.
Sadly, both topics seem to have whizzed past Lozza's nose. No mean feat I might add.

Oh, by the way, when referring to oneself the proper use of the letter 'I' is in capital form. That young Tamata from the Warriors is a good player though......
Hope this clears everything up.

Frank........... You cut me real deep just now...... real deep.

Its a self-esteem thing that prevents me from using capital etters in reference to myself. I went to school with some real jerks that would pound me into the ground at a glance. So i am sorry about that.

But i do agree. The most frustrating thing about being a dragonheart is that we do have qualty players there. Keeping them on the park seems to be a different matter. we have what is known as the super six but after that we go from rep quality to country second division. There is no one in the middle.

I think that is a big thing for you guys this year. The combination of a few old hard heads (toots, davico and wiki), a couple coming of age (macca, schif) some great new talent (monas and graham) and some that have just always seemed to be good, consistant players (tongue, woolford). throw in a real good buy like Ian Hindmarsh and you have got a great season.

It is testament to the club for being patient in their development.

I also reckon that Mathew Elliot, although was a handy player, does not have this stigma attached to him of being the former great that is expected to pass his greatness onto his team. I think Mal really struggled with the expectation side of things as a coach, and was a great example that the best players are not nessesarily the best coaches. Elliot has a licence to just coach his team, he is passionate, and focussed, and its paying dividends.

Now that my boys are firmly placed up shit creek, and if it is OK with Ultima and if i spell it properly for Frank I will be waving the green flag for the remainder of the season.

It's great to have any Dragon fans on board for the remainder of the season; Willow, nudge, nudge ;-) ;-)

The funny thing is that the Raiders coaching staff are dominated by ex-dragons and vice versa for the Dragons.

'Its' needs an apostrophe.
See if you can figure out where it goes. Maybe you could ask that nosy, coffee swilling assistant coach of yours.

Sorry Dragonfly, me ol' trout and toolbox. I just can't help myself (your signature needs a question mark)....see?!!!

I promise I'll try to overcome my problems in the future, especially if you're going to help steer the mighty Green Machine into the Grand Final sunset this year.......honoured to have you aboard.
