I don't mean this as a slight on Manly, because they've far exceeded my expecations of them this year - but their props are average joe's at best. Manly are not a top 4 team because of their big men so your analogy is way off.

They have plenty of strike, but it sure makes the Stewart brothers, Foran's & DCE's job easier when they play behind a pack going well.
It's a myth the Saints don't like 'getting roughed up'.. not sure they could have achieved what they have in the past 2 years if they couldn't take the heat up front

Watched it again. We missed Hunt, Green and Weyman (injured). Take two starting props and 1 bench prop out of any team and they will struggle in the forward battle, which is what happened in the 2nd half after Weyman was injured.

We didnt have Shillington or TLL... whom i would comfortably take over any two of the three you just named. We are also missing Campese.

Injuries to saints are no excuse for losing. They lost to a side that was better on the night, end of story.

Winning like that doesn't show you were the better team on the night. Congrats on the win but it was very lucky. The better team in a game doesn't always reflect in result.

No argument there. My point was in response to the claim that we were smashed and dominated in the forwards. Bit hard to claim given 2 of our best forwards didnt play and the other didnt play the 2nd half, and also the game was only lost in the dying seconds.

As per my other 2 posts full credit to canberra.

I disagree.

I watched the game again and Canberra completely dominated that second half. They made massive metres up the middle and if they were better at converting their opportunities into points it could have been ugly for the Dragons. They shut up shop and paid for it.

I fully agree that there was a fair bit of luck involved in the last play and the lead up to it. But I have no doubt that Canberra were the better side that night.

The Raiders were smashing the Dragons and Soward bottled it again just like he does every game against the Raiders when we start roughing them up.

Ahh, that's right, Manly did win it last year. It's hard to remember after the Dessie drama.
