Dragons. Bennett never won his first at Dragons and I'm tipping it to go the same way with his first game at Knights.

Bennett's record against his former clubs, our excellent record in Newcastle, and a better pack will combine to see a Dragons win I reckon. Saints by 6.

Ahhh I love all this Jealousy against the knights. You all wish you could be us.

I'd save those calls for when they've actually played a fair chunk of the season. Great coach, but the 6,7,9 are far from outstanding (Buderus is an unknown at this point). The bench isn't that great either, nor is Cuthbertson at starting prop (much better as a bench player with offloads against tiring defences).

I personally don't get the calls for the knights to be eventual premiership winners, but Bennett has a habit of producing winners.

If the weather keeps up, I'm tipping us by 6... We have the better kicking game and the better forward pack (with the bench) IMO. I'll be a low scoring game either way, and I'm absolutely pumped for it, can't wait.

Don't see how Dragons have the better pack?

Dragons have the better prop rotation, but the knights have the better backrow. That's how I see it, anyway.

I think it will be a close game. Knights by 4

Dissapointed seeing beau Scott at center, I guess price has shown how he intends to play this year.

Knights by 14.

No disagreements on the backrow for this game, but not by a big margin, if Scott was in the forwards it'd be completely different.

The front row rotation is much stronger though, which for a wet game is pretty damn important.

Beaunhead's just a fill-in, we have plenty of other centre possibilities. He'll go okay. Saints will have to defend very, very well to win this, going to be an emotion-charged night up in Newcastle and we can't let the occasion overwhelm us.

The Dragons prop rotation is stronger, but I wouldn't say by much.

Snowden > Latimore
Cuthbertson < Weyman
Fa'aoso > Ah Mau
Edwards < Merrin

Latimore > Fa'aoso
Weyman > Cuthbertson
Snowden > Ah Mau
Merrin > Edwards

Doesn't look as close now does it? Weyman, Latimore and Merrin can all play big minutes as well.

Cuthbertson isn't a starter, and Edwards and Fa'aso are pretty meh IMO. Snowden is a damn good prop though.

lol, does Snowy get to play for you blokes tomorrow night or something?

a fewf Knights fans acting like complete twats before a ball has even been kicked. sad. it wasn't 12 months ago that we barely had a pot to piss in, and no player would touch us. remember where we came from. the Dragons deserve a bit of respect, they're an established top line team. they have some question marks over them, but far fewer than we have over us at this stage. we can't just assume it's all going to instantly click for us, although i certainly hope it does.

i wish the Dragons all the best, and hopefully we don't have too many dramas at the stadium (we seem to have a few scuffles whenever the red V comes to town). not suggesting that this is typical of Dragons supporters or anything, could easily be locals that cause the grief - there are a lot of Saints supporters up here from way back before we had our own team.

Is there an order to the left and right you need to put players that designates what team they're on? ;-)

Direct player comparison's on positions are absolutely useless anyway, anyone who looks at it like that is pretty damn simplistic in their analysis of the game.

Good luck tomorrow, it's shaping up to be a cracker of a game. Whilst I don't think the knights squad is probably as good as ours was in 2009, they will give the comp a decent shake up with Bennett at the helm.

LOL @ anyone who judges who's gonna win by >'s.......

Yeah I agree. We're talking about Bennett coached teams here. The sum is greater than the parts. Wayne has always placed emphasis on the belief that the team is more important than the individual. It's why he let Justin Poore go when he asked for more money. Therefore arguing over which team's individual player is better really is a moot point.

This game will be decided on whether the Knights can click straight away as a cohesive unit. The best unit on the day will win. I'm interested though to see how well composed and disciplined the Dragons are as a team now that Bennett is gone. Especially Soward.

I keep hearing that the Knights side of 2012 isn't quite as good as the Dragons side of 2009. Whilst i agree with that across the park, i'd argue that in the spine the Knights have a whole lot more talent, potential and class than the Dragons spine that started 2009.

Bedsy is only one class below an immortal, Mullen is 2008 Soward but a much better defender, Hornby is a poor mans Gidley and Boyd is twice the player he was in 2009.
