The refs were merkins !

The video ref is a merkin !

Adam Reynolds is a little diving bitch merkin !

Bryson Goodwin is a merkin !

Wright dropping that ball makes him a massive merkin !

Ennis for being an ill-disiciplined merkin makes him a merkin!

We better wake up with these stupid penalties and drop balls or melbourne are going rip us a new butt-hole !

Awesome win.

First genuinely pleasing win of the year.

So far we've beaten an average team in the Panthers and arguably the poorest team of the first four weeks (they should have been 0-4 before we played them). We lost to two of the best teams in the comp in competitive games and lost the fluke round 1 game.

We needed this win to get to 3-3 but we also needed a quality win against a top 6 team. There's no point just beating up on the shit teams and then getting pumped in the finals. You need to show your good enough to outplay good teams and we did that tonight.

We hung in there in the 1st half, we managed to stop them turning their domination into points and we made the most of when we did have the ball. We rode the momentum of the end of the 1st half to dominated the entire 2nd half.

It's the first time all year we've put in an 80 minute effort.

Luke and Inglis played like top 2 players in their positions, IMO they are only second 2 Smith and Slater respectively, simply outstanding and too much class. Two or three times Inglis turned what could have been a goal line drop kick into us having the ball in their half, huge momentum changeing line breaks from him. Everingham...what a find.

And lastly defense, the best part of our game today (who would have said that a year ago) you can't win premierships without having the defense to keep you in the game when you're on the back foot. The improvement Maguire has helped us acheive in that part of the game is massive. We were Melbourne-like in the ruck, going to the absolute maximum of what you can do without giving away penalties, and also keeping missed tackles to the absolute minimum.

2 wins in a row, including our most promising win of the year. 3-3. I feel a lot more confident about leaving NZ with a win next week.

Your dribble usually give me the shytes, but on this occasion you are correct. Great game from Souths. Best I have seen in a while. Hung in early and dominated in the second half and like you said, played for 80 for a change. Well done.

Ps. I am impressed you didn't rub shit in dogs fans faces.

On here I know I'm not popular and I know a lot of people give Souths crap but RELATIVELY speaking Dogs fans (and Sharks fans) aren't as bad as a few other fanbases like Easts/Dragons/Eels/Knights. That and the fact that we showed lots of good signs made me more interested in my teams positives rather than rubbing in their negatives.

I don't mind Canterbury as a team and I feel for them when so many dumbarses stereotype against their fans (including a couple of Souths fans in this thread earlier in the week), so I didn't feel like getting pleasure from their disappointment.

I seriously have no idea why we are whining about the ref's , we should have South's dead and buried at half time but we didn't and then they destroyed us in the second half.

Goodwin should never be allowed to play first grade again and Reynolds really stifles our attack at times by being to unpredictable.

Inglis killed us in the second half and I think South's are going to be a very dangerous this year

Press conference now up...lol Dessie not happy at all. TBH I don't think Ennis should have even been penalised for that tackle, let alone put on report. They need to bring in a rule where if a player lays down for something like that they get 10 in the bin. Same thing happens to James Graham about 10 minutes later (in fact the tackle was worse, even Issac Luke looked at the ref) and play continued coz he got up and played on.

I've never rated him, but Taylor has been f**king beast this season, but Luke makes all the difference. More than anyone they need Luke to stay healthy.

Dogs can't cry about acting when Graham has already put in two logie performances this season.

How the f**k are you going to tell the difference between someone who is genuinely dazed by an impact to the head and some who is "acting".

People can die from relatively minor hits in the head so how is a ref supposed to get inside a players head and see if he really is injured or if he's acting?

That is the hard part to police. The only way I can think of it is that if you have a head injury you must come off the field for a medical diagnosis, but then that could get really complicated with interchanges etc. Say Reynolds had to spend 5 minutes off the field under an independent doctor to make sure he was alright to continue play. They review the tackle and if it warrants a penalty then report the player and wait for Reynolds to have his check up and it is a free interchange till Reynolds is back on the field. If it didn't warrant a penalty then its a waste of an interchange, or even possibly a 5 minute sinbin. Personally I don't think many players would lay down if they knew regardless they will spend the next 5 minutes on the sideline. If they are legit injured then nothing changes as they get a free sub etc. Not perfect but it is just a suggestion, perhaps the clubs could brainstorm a better idea.

Corrigan has no clue what to do in attack but his defence is as good as any good first grader. He contained Hodges well a few weeks ago so I don't see how running at Corrigan all day would be considered a smart, attacking move.

shear_joy obviously has no idea.

Corrigan doesn't offer much with the ball in hand but is a great defensive centre.
