The Souths fans where I was sitting (bay 109) were gracious winners and that was the only positive I could take out of tonight.

We were shithouse, end of. Created a stack of chances in the first half, and bombed all bar one of them. Set up a couple for the opposition, which never helps (ask Cronulla fans). The less said about our second half, the better.

Our season was pretty much gone anyway, but that confirms it. If the Tigers win we're two games and a stack of differential outside the 8. There is absolutely no indication we're capable of doing a Parra. The worrying thing is I don't see too many indications that next year will be any better. We've recruited a couple of good young players in Beale and Frizell, but our problems are far more serious than can be solved by purchasing a couple of good younguns. Frankly, the place needs a broom.

Souths looked pretty good, but it's difficult to judge how they're really going, as their last 7 wins have been against teams outside the 8. The only two games they've played against top 8 opposition over that period they lost. We'll see how they go when they run into some real opposition. Though to be fair, it's these easy games they've often botched in seasons past.

Not sure if I'd rather be playing teams in the 8 or teams playing for their season as we have been lately. Roosters played one of their best performances of the year for mine, and Dragons were at least as good as they were against the Sharks IMO

Good point there Jason. Though Sharks, Storm, Broncos and Manly have also faced teams outside the 8 and they lost them. What you say is so true though - Souths would have lost those games in the past.
