So on GF day, if you're behind by 2 and the opposition have the ball on their 20 with 1 min to go, just come flying I and headbutt the ball carrier.

Losing the ball no matter the circumstances (unless it involves an illegal act) has been knock on for 100 years. Otherwise everyone would fake an injury if they lost the ball.

Every team cops it, it's perfectly fair.

Have you only started watching footy this week? It has always been like that because the possibility of what you're suggesting is ridiculously remote. The far more likely problem is faking injuries to avoid knock ons. And asking refs to play doctor is a farce.
