Peaking in September...you need to start your run now because if they continue losing they will only get one chance in September.

We get Inglis back in 1-2 weeks, Sutton back in 2 weeks, Champion back in 4. Not gonna start peaking without the former two players

Problem is that you have Storm, Manly, Dogs and Roosters to play before the finals...

Storm have an easier run with Souths, Knights, Eels, Manly and Tits...

weren't Melbourne losing this time last year?

means f**k all, at the end of the day you only need to win 4 games in a row, maybe 3, come September/October.

Souths can lose another 3 games and still be guaranteed the double chance.

That's what the bright sparks in the media as well as the experts here who flip and flop based on a couple of games don't realise.

Souths had a considerable buffer going into their second bye. Virtually guaranteed a top 4 spot, 2 months out from finals, and a schedule consisting of the bye and 3 bottom 8 teams, it was perfect to ramp up the training and risk the fatigue in games and a loss here and there. Indeed, last week was effectively a week long training camp in NQ with a game at the end of it. That week up there was hardly an exercise to acclimatise to conditions for that game. Rather, it was utilise the conditions they'll encounter in Finals.

The major risk with such high volume cycle approach was injuries and they have succumb to a few. Not ideal.

Now they'll be in recovery, freshening up and interchanging with higher intensity work prior to tapering for finals.

A loss to Melbourne shouldn't be a surprise to anyone except the nuffies in the media and the lol@souffs brigade here. They'll still be in recovery from NQ. This week will be a learning experience, but they'll lose.

They'll be freshening up again for the Manly game and I'd say wait and see how they go from there.

I'd prefer a tough run over an easy run. Those games are more likely to show our weaknesses and get the tough finals type football ramp up. Historically Storm can turn it on whenever so your run home won't affect your ability to compete come finals time but for Souths it's a good thing IMO.

Madge says that Inglis is a chance to play should he pass a fitness test. Personally i don't think he will but if so i wouldn't mind much if he gets up. If so he's going to be well underdone and short of a run or two, not to mention Bellamy has come up with the game plan to negate his effectiveness to the point he hasn't done much against us at all. That can change at any time of course but i don't think it'll be Friday night should he play.

A dog ordinary performance against the Cowboys should sting the Bunnies into action. Storm will probably still win, but I think we'll see a vastly improved performance from Souths.

I expect the Storm to win in a relatively close one and for GI not to be risked.

But if we do win I reckon we'll get the minor premiership.

Storm by 6.

what's the benefit in the minor premiership apart from 1st seed (no different to 2nd, if anything 1st seed is at a disadvantage in comparison to 2nd come PF weekend) and the jj gilt shield?

Any moolah come with it? Cos basically, no one remembers minor premiers. BS recognition.

I don't think GI will play tomorrow but Madge has employed a very smart ploy here by taking the focus away from the five eight and putting it back on to the fullback, both from the media and Melbourne.
