I think most sharks and eels fans wouldve been happy with either a win or loss tonight. It was just great to celebrate a life of a truly remarkable young man taken way to early. Great that Timmy got this first Johnny Mannah cup for Eels. Great tradition starts for our 2 clubs!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this game tonight - not because it was such a high quality contest all round (the Sharks were fairly poor) but because the Eels showed good spirit and excellent energy and effort levels after such a poor performance just a week ago.

I was watching the Holden Cup with my youngest daughter who asked me who I was supporting. I said I didn't mind who won and she looked at the teams and said "I want the Eels to win because Sharks are dangerous". Fair enough I thought.

From that second, every set of six she's counting the tackles and shouting "go Sardines" (she thinks they're a type of Eel) and telling the Sardines to tackle the Sharks.

This repeats in first grade until she has to go to bed (I was watching a replay at 8pm).

I'm looking forward to the morning when I will be able to show her the result in the paper. I think she'll be chuffed her Sardines got up!

We were the Sardines last week mate

Yeah pretty much

I looked at her and said "I hope you support the Roosters with this much passion, or I'm going to have to travel to Parramatta to watch a game with you"

I think she's considering her options
