Another frustrating game for Manly, pretty sloppy game in general. Wasn't really that impressed with either team, that stats were very even and the game was decided by some fairly lucky trys. Manly look really out of sync, although I thought this was a problem last year as well, what wasn't a problem last year was the right hand side attack. Glenn Stewart and Jamie Lyon both look out of shape and out of sorts. Taufua is coming along in leaps and bounds, don't even miss Hopoate at all, I hope his long term future at Manly is eventually taking over Matai's centre position.
I think Toovey needs to talk to some of the players about their 50/50 offloading so early on into a set, I can excuse it if it's 4th or 5th but sometimes it's better to keep it simple. Brenton Lawrence is showing up most of the other props in the pack as well, I hope we don't have to deal with George Rose and David Gower too much longer. I thought Hiku was pretty solid apart from the one drop, he looks really slight but I thought he was actually running it pretty well from the back, he made some good metres. I'm pretty happy for him to continue starting and gaining confidence while Brett Stewart gets back to 100%.
If I was a Roosters fan i'd be thankful SKD didn't cost them the game, god he made some horrible mistakes. I can't belive he's the starting centre for the Kiwis. It was a brave win for the Roosters in the end, but I still have them a step behind the Bunnies at the moment. Manly might dip over the next few weeks with all sorts of reserves getting a run with all the injuries/suspensions, but i'm still confident this team will be in the top 4 at the end of the season.
