Toovey needs to get Stewart and Lyon fit. Neither are any where near peak fitness. Obviously Gifty has been injured. As long as injuries don't cruel us too much, we will improve as the season goes. Right now we are not in the same league as the top 3. We have done well to get there imho.

We can defend like champions, but we really only look like scoring off Jorge or Watmough atm.
We look too sideways at the moment and passes are going astray, left side always looks more threatening cause Foran gets em running straight, Glenn sadly needs to find form and stop crabbing or Symonds will be taking his place soon

Were you watching the game, DCE had a shocker, set up the roosters first try, didnt find touch with a penalty kick, several loose passes.. Well below par tonight

Yet the only times Manly looked likely were going to do anything was off DCE. Hard to execute when the other spine members aren't contributing like they should

No depth at all. That's where Stewart should be running into the line creating overlaps. With him out, we are just ordinary.

Got to say, congrats to the roosters on a good win. They haven't won at Brookvale in a while and been on the end of some thrashings in that time. I said during the week that, if they were ever going to win, then this was their chance.

To be honest it was a horrible game. So many dropped balls and errors, and there didn't seem to be the intensity that I thought there'd be. Manly we're very flat and have been for a month. The injury toll and suspensions have been mounting and at the moment we're just hanging in games. Having said that, they had plenty of chances but without Brett and missing so many key forwards, the attack was way off.

I thought the send off was fair even though they are rare these days. It was a swinging arm that connected flush on the chin. If the situation was reversed and a Manly had done the identical thing to a roosters player, I doubt many roosters fans would have a problem with it.

Anyway.... On to Melbourne next week, yippee!

And whats up with these f**king souff fans on here being on their high horses lately? Manly and Melbourne fans who have achieved the most success of late have not been arrogant merkins like these toothless gimps. They dont give out medals for being top of the ladder in f**king May.

This guys knows. Manly and Easts fans know what it's like to be sitting on top... Souffs fans take what they can get.

As for the game. I thought, despite the mistakes and penalties, it's as gripping a game as you'll get. Very enjoyable, maybe just coz we won, eat a dick Manly, but f**k me that was a top 4 match.

Well played Roosters. You guys are onto a good thing with your new coach, your defence is excellent. Our attack is really lacking without Brett Stewart, and Glenn Stewart still looks unfit and out of place out there- we should have come storming home in the last 10 when the Roosters were down to 12 men, but we managed to blow every chance we had. Some of the passes that were thrown tonight were plain stupid. On a positive note, Brenton Lawrence was a stand out again for us.

You know what gets me about that? The perception that a player has to be injured for it to be a send off. Warren Smith tonight said he didn't think it was a send off simply because Rose wasn't hurt, but that it would be a definite send off if he was.

It makes no f**king difference one way or the other.

Absolutely correct, for once in your life. Just sets a stupid and dangerous precedence of even more "milking the penalty/card" than we currently have. Not to mention endangers players still further.

Why should someone have to have been seriously damaged by foul play for the offender to receive the correct punishment? Ludicrous, and I hope no ref's ever stupid enough to think along those lines.

Another frustrating game for Manly, pretty sloppy game in general. Wasn't really that impressed with either team, that stats were very even and the game was decided by some fairly lucky trys. Manly look really out of sync, although I thought this was a problem last year as well, what wasn't a problem last year was the right hand side attack. Glenn Stewart and Jamie Lyon both look out of shape and out of sorts. Taufua is coming along in leaps and bounds, don't even miss Hopoate at all, I hope his long term future at Manly is eventually taking over Matai's centre position.

I think Toovey needs to talk to some of the players about their 50/50 offloading so early on into a set, I can excuse it if it's 4th or 5th but sometimes it's better to keep it simple. Brenton Lawrence is showing up most of the other props in the pack as well, I hope we don't have to deal with George Rose and David Gower too much longer. I thought Hiku was pretty solid apart from the one drop, he looks really slight but I thought he was actually running it pretty well from the back, he made some good metres. I'm pretty happy for him to continue starting and gaining confidence while Brett Stewart gets back to 100%.

If I was a Roosters fan i'd be thankful SKD didn't cost them the game, god he made some horrible mistakes. I can't belive he's the starting centre for the Kiwis. It was a brave win for the Roosters in the end, but I still have them a step behind the Bunnies at the moment. Manly might dip over the next few weeks with all sorts of reserves getting a run with all the injuries/suspensions, but i'm still confident this team will be in the top 4 at the end of the season.
