Johnson has been kicking awesome, Pritchard the best for the kiwis though. Might put some coin on the kiwis.

Under the laws, a penalty can be giving for taking out someone who is trying to recover a ball that they have lost, the penalty overruling the knock on. That part of the decision is fine.

However, if a player is juggling the ball, they are considered to be in possession, therefore Hodges was available to be tackled under the laws of the game, which is what makes that decision completely and utterly wrong.

This scenario is always discussed at our referees meetings. Ruling from head body is that Penalties will overule a minor infringement.

Mick Stone puts his reasonings here in his national coaching reports for this scenario.

?When there is a minor breach, i.e., a knock on, the non offending team
has the opportunity to take an advantage. Upon a second breach
being committed by the hitherto non offending side, all bets are off and
play must cease. If a major breach is committed by the hitherto non
offending team, a penalty shall be awarded against them. Although
the first team committed a minor breach, they are allowed to force a
scrum by gaining possession. If the hitherto non offending team belts a
player, or tackles a player without the ball to prevent him gaining
possession, or is adjudged offside or any other penalizable
breach........he is penalized because play is still proceeding. They are
not entitled to carte blanche.?

Hitherto is defined in the Concise Oxford Dictionary as ?up to this
time?. You won?t find it in the Laws of the Game.

NZ ahead 18-6 if this game is refereed correctly.

I think that Glenn no try was fair. It really did look dropped live, so was rightfully sent up as a no try and the video didn't really provide proof that he did ground it.

So 12-6. Australia have been pretty poor. No 5/8 would do that I guess.

The whole needing conclusive evidence to overrule the decision on the field thing, not working out.
