MYTH 2 - Jonathon Thurston is the best rugby league player in the world.
From my observation, he would be lucky to be in the top 5 at any time during his career. This year has been poor for the Laughing Clown, both for the Cowboys and the Maroons.
Metres gained tonight - minus 2
Line Breaks - 0
Times in possession - 63
Tackles - 13
Missed tackles - 4  and weren't some of them doosies!
Penalties conceded - 0
Retire at the end of the year dude or your new name will the Thurston Cow the Turd.
MYTH BUSTED.
And yet we will continue to hear many of the QLDers say that Thurston will be remembered as being just as good as Joey Johns, if not, better when he retires.
Until Thurston wins a premiership starting at number 6/7 (and not off the bench as he did for the Bulldogs in 2004), he will never be considered in the same category as Johns. Sadly, at 31 and his best years behind him, his chances of winning a comp with the Cowboys are extremely slim. He had his shot in 2005 and came up short.
