Before people start blowing up deluxe at the referees and saying how poor Souths are, can we give the Raiders a bit of credit?
We were extremely poor last week with our attack (although again in hindsight a huge amount of credit needs to go to the Titans defence looking back), but the Raiders were extremely tough defensively today and our forwards dominated the hyped Souths pack.
Yes we were lucky to get a few calls go our way, but even those who don't support us know that we hardly ever get the 'rub of the green' so we will take today.
I think it's pretty clear that we DESERVED to win the game and credit has to go to our gameplan (ie. kick to the left side of Souths defence so Inglis always ran it back at Allwood who is a tower of strength defensively), and our pressure that forced Souths into the errors they made.
Let's not forget we were without Fensom and Edwards, our two best tackling machines, for the entire 2nd half.
No doubt in my mind that Ricky can still coach, the players have a better mental toughness this year.
