Wellington rugby league administrator Noel Kerrisk has explained his reasons for quitting as chairman of the Orcas Bartercard Cup team.
"I'm just a bit disenchanted with the whole thing (the appointment of Kiwis coach). I came on board with the distinct understanding that we're trying to tidy up the game and get some integrity back into it," he said.
Kerrisk said the appointment of Gary Kemble, who has not coached this season, as Kiwis coach ahead of Orcas coach Paul Bergman, was the final straw. "I guess the Kemble issue, Kemble being appointed over our lad - well, Bergman is clearly the No 1 coach in New Zealand."
Meanwhile, Kemble, Phil Prescott and James Leuluai will today be unveiled as the Kiwis new coaching trio.
Kemble met with New Zealand Rugby League officials last night to sign as national head coach, while Prescott and Leuluai are expected to be named as his assistants.
Kemble succeeds Brian McClennan, who resigned to coach British Super League club Leeds.
Bergman has agreed to assist Australian legend Wayne Bennett in coaching the All Golds team in their centenary match against the Northern Union in October.
Bergman, 37, described the All Golds job as a "tremendous consolation prize" and he believed it would be a step forward in his dream of eventually becoming Kiwis coach.
