Another big test to see if Penrith is up to the hype. Can they match the established heavyweights (Souths, Easts & Newcastle).

Well they got rolled narrowly by the Roosters, I don't think they can match Souths at the present time, and they already smacked the Dogs, but as far as established heavyweights, that's it. The Knights are having the sort of start the Titans did last year. They aint no heavyweight although under the circumstances (at home, playing a team with a 4 1/2 day turnaround) they are some chance here.

The amount of people that miss tongue-in-cheek posts around here is hilarious

If Panthers want to win they need a lot better completion rate then they had against Roosters. Need to play like we did tge first half against Doggies and second half against the Titans.

Also need a huge improvement from Isaac John.

We did play one of the heavyweights of the comp, and getting done by 1 try isnt too much of a bruised ego for our lads.

They'll get confidence from that game being it was away and how for very long periods of time,we kept them at bay.

IMO,Easts are the ones to beat this year.

If we are not in the GF,after playing Easts again in the semi, the other semi will be between Souths V Dogs.

Kniggts chances have improved massively. Segeyaro is out with a concussion. So we're missing half our spine now.

Going to be a very different style of football for Panthers now. Basically just leaves Moylan from our key attacking players.

Koroisau is a ridiculously handy replacement though. He would be starting hooker for more than half the clubs in the NRL.

We're doomed! How will we ever win with two players out?

Cause that's what was said... :sarcasm:

With 2 players out, in the spine, our attack will be affected - Given that we're going up against an un-beaten team, who are full of confidence, I think we'll lose this game - Not doomed, but definitely impacted.

We might lose. I don't think losing is a near certain outcome, though. The Knights remind me of the Titans early last season.

Panthers are still a chance for sure, but Soward and Segeyaro are two of our most important players. Like the Storm, our attack revolves around 3/4 of our spine.

That's not to say these guys are in the class of Slater, Cronk and Smith. But they are our equivalent of them. Fortunately Korisau is an amazingly talented backup hooker, but he's not not the same. No one is. The up tempo game that Segeyaro plays with is part of what helps the rest of the spine.

This is from the NRL.com article:
Segeyaro suffered a concussion and a badly cut mouth in Penrith's loss to the Sydney Roosters on Monday.
He will be replaced by Apisai Koroisau at Hunter Stadium but is expected to be right for the following round.
"He's been on fire," Penrith coach Ivan Cleary said of Segeyaro.
"He just didn't come up from the other night ... It's a combination of the concussion and the cut. The short turnaround didn't help there.
Reckon the Panthers could cop a fine for him playing after a concussion?

If he passed the concussion test, which from all reports he did, no they wouldn't get fined.

I would say the hit from Nappa would have concussed a Bull. Fair bet that is what did the damage.

Perfectly legal hit btw, with no head contact, but the force he was hit with was brutal. Early contender for hit of the year.

The bloke nearly bit his own lip off on top of being targeted and smashed all game. It's quite feasible that he passed a concussion test but is still unfit to play. We'll be right. If we lose it doesn't mean our season is over. Newcastle are a decent team.
