Johnston is Merritt 2.0.

Average yardage game and barely does anything spectacular unless he's given some open space. Decent finisher and safe, but that's about it

I think he is better then that and with the wing options available deserved his spot. He isn't a big meter maker from your own end though which is so important in these rep games.

Weirdly I couldn't pick a best kiwi player, they've all played good and done their jobs
Picking Australia's worse is even harder so many have had bad games, thurston had been shocking, inglis is below his best, cronk and smith out of sync, thaiday and Scott have been outplayed by every single kiwi forward

Feels a lot like it at this point. He is faster than Merritt though

He has a big body and is still young so he could be quite different in a couple years but he is really meek, doesn't like the tough stuff. And doesn't really have a step or any obvious passing skills

Doesn't help his passing game he's playing on the wrong side. Not worthy of a test jersey yet though.

Also hasn't helped that Jennings won't pass him the ball.

Thaiday and Parker only decent players in the pack. NZ rightfully now should be classed as the best RL nation in the world.
