Beating the Panthers was very important now. With Sezer and Austin out for a minimum of 5 weeks (of course thats normally team talk for 3 but lets take them at their word) it is going to be a slog.

Luckily the sides we are playing have their own struggles so even with them out we might at least be competitive. Still it would be a bummer to get through this period with less wins than we could have otherwise got.

Don't downplay your chances Raiders fans, the fact your halves are out is the only thing giving us a chance to win. If both forward packs turn up with the same attitude as last week we will be defending for 60 minutes anyways.

Croker or Wighton I’d expect. Hopefully Croker because we don’t have a good fullback replacement and we don’t need another weakened spine position.

I'm hoping its Williams and Lachlan Croker, but would not be surprised to see one of Wighton/Baptiste/Hodgson named in the halves with Waqa or Clydesdale coming in to replace whichever one of them is moved.

Thank god we kept Sammy Williams. He may not be a gun, but he's a more than serviceable backup.

Going to be tough for the raiders without either of their halves, as far as backups go Sam Williams is pretty good though.

If the roosters dish out what they did against souffs the raiders should still be too strong

I am with you on the Croker/Williams combo

I think in all honesty that the most sensible course of action is Croker on Sezers side of the field and Williams on Austins because Sezer in theory will be back before Austin. I think it would be better to blood Croker than to use a makeshift half because Wighton isnt a great playmaker but is an improving fullback. It would be silly to move him and it would be equally silly to move our best player (hodgson) from his best position.

If Lachlan Croker has gets an absolute pasting on the weekend because his defence stinks then we can think of alternative options. Its worth a punt.

The most disappointing thing is that we really had a soft draw to start the year. I am not trying to bag out any teams here but until we play the bulldogs in round 4 we had a bunch of teams with issues. I mean the roosters have beat us a lot in recent history but they are out a fullback they havent replaced, very inexperienced in the halves and injured in the forwards.

f**k injuries lol. They are a part of rugby league but fancy losing both halves in the first game.

EDIT

Either way there is no chance that Stuart names Croker in the run on side. I think its probably going to be 1. Waqa/Rapana 6. Wighton 7 Sammy 9 Hodgson. Croker will probably still play lol. Good ole Sticky and his team lists.

Stuart is a spastic but how unlucky is he, finally gets a good halves pair and loses them both week 1 for at least a month. Could be a vital month, they have the Roosters, Knights and Titans next three weeks so hopefully they can win at least two of them.

They have probably the weakest draw going so anything but a Top 6 finish is a disappointment for the Raiders.

Babyface O'Reilly and myself will be driving down to the Nations Capital to watch this game. It's my first game in Canberra and I'm rather excited about it

A couple of my mates are heading down by train to watch the game as well

Should be a good day out with the lads

I'm not expecting great things from the game itself if last weeks performance from us and the fact the Raiders will be without their halves, but I've been wrong before.

The game last week looked like a contraflow designed by Redfern Council. One way traffic in the wrong direction and our workmen couldn't do anything to change it. Not good. Also not good is the fact they played in 30+ degrees heat after arriving back from the bitter winter of the Northern Hemisphere and the jet lag they must be suffering.

The Raiders also suffered 30+ heat last week and have to back it up again

What f**king moron scheduled day games for the same teams two weeks running in March? They want f**king shooting. Stupid twats.

Some idiots think Canberra is cold all year round.

Interesting to hear that it?s up to the teams if they want drink breaks or not. Sounds like the sort of decision a medical professional should make.

Hoping for a bounceback from us, especially with Canbra depleted. Us by 8 in a bludger of a game.
