Having a utility on the bench is a smart option IMO. With only 8 interchanges now it's unlikely 4 bench players can get decent minutes. Already we've seen a number of teams have a guy on the bench not take the field this year.

It makes sense to have someone there purely for if a back/half goes down IMO
