Another easy Friday night for the NRL Golden Boys. Just 3 penalties ( for appearance sake, wouldn't want anyone claiming there's favouritism ), stoppage time whenever a little soldier goes down ( too bad if it stops any momentum for the opposition ) and a nice little 2 point gift near the end there from the refs to put any Titans' comeback to bed. FMD.

I don't think filter realised that sammy was interviewing for his role.

I don't think freddie realises much!

Sammy has a good personality for a tv role... speaks fairly clearly which helps. Might find a good role on nitv rather than joining the sinking ch9 ship.

Such an inconsistent game.

The line-breaks and points came too easy for the Broncos. Lulled them into playing brainless footy and the Titans really fought their way back through their big boppers. Despite missing the all important two, they'll take more out of that game and I can see them being that 10-12th place side that will be a real pain in the arse for any team that's marginally off. Their physical brand of footy complete with Taylor's kicking game (how good?) makes them a nice package.

I still don't think the Broncos are a top team just yet. They've done enough to be in every game but if they were the real deal they would be undefeated. That game against Penrith exposed them and until they lift their game I can't get behind them as a premiership force.

With that said, I really liked the performance from Roberts. Scored an early try, shrugged off a painful injury then earned a vital penalty at a key interval. He's finding his feet in this side and I'll be very excited to see how he performs during the Origin period.

f**k there are some whingers here.

The Milford knock on was a terrible call. Should have been called a knock on no doubt.

but that's the only contentious call yet everyones panties are twisted as usual

Birds knock on in the lead up to the Titans first try.

The more I see of this side the more I think they lack the power up front to win the comp. Penrith didn't monster them in the forwards, rather they did it with second phase, the only time the passes have really stuck so far this year mind you. But it showed the key to dismantling the Broncos. You have to match their forwards (which half the packs in the premiership could do) and you need to get effective offloads. The team that can do this will shut the Broncos down, no matter how good they think their backline is.

Interestingly, Penrith were not allowed nearly the same latitude to offload against the Dragons last weekend. An underrated forward pack, I've got to say, although whether they can contain the Broncos' undoubted attacking potential, especially in Brisbane in front of a huge crowd, has to be highly doubtful.

It's definitely an area the Broncos have to be mindful of. To give them credit, I thought the kicking game was much improved over the Penrith performance. I couldn't believe some of the choices that evening, they just made it easier for the bigger side that evening. The kicks had more purpose about them tonight and they were able to contain the Titans better in the crunch.

Plus, for whatever reason Wayne didn't play his biggest forward (Ofahengaue) that evening and opted to keep Nikorima out on the field longer than he should have.
