The ruling makes sense, but in the past that was always deemed a knock on or loose carry by us. Which I never agreed with personally.

Last night I thought it was the right call but has never been seen that way by the refs. I don't think Penrith should have any complaints from the officiating, they got some good calls last night, which happens when you are home team.
Both teams got good and bad calls. But the biggest dud call was the penalty for a crusher tackle on Trent Merrin. That wasas bad as the penalties they used to give after a player stayed down for a slight touch to his head while falling. This was essentially that only they were supposed to have been gone from the game now that the tackle needs to be deemed reportable.

The panthers stripped it then grounded it their ingoal

While that may have happened, there wasn't any evidence of it that I could see. It's impossible to be sure in that mass of bodies that the ball wasn't lost into one of the Panther players before it was grounded. The bunker was just guessing.

simona should never have been suspended.

And neither should Scott. The judiciary is in between a rock and a hard place now.

Suspend Scott and they look like a joke. Don't suspend him and they make a mockery of the Simona suspension.

Great game, fantastic effort by both teams. I see Penrith coming into premiership contention 2/3 years from now got ton of time to develop is just a matter of being injury-free for once and one year it will come together. Cowboys close out in style which is expected from the premiers.

I think the '88 Panthers hold that honour. Don't worry, we will make the finals, we don't have to play the Cowboys every week.

And we have had our baptism of fire in playing most of the better sides.Just the Sharkies and Storm to play who are the only top remaining teams in the comp.

Now the other sides have to face who we have for the past 6 weeks.Dragons excepted.

RE: Taumalolo's No Try.

The referees changed the interpretation a few years ago when they allowed players to strip the ball in the act of scoring. For years it would usually be a knock on or a penalty so that's where the perception is coming from.

It may be a tough call against the Panthers as the replay seemed inconclusive but it wasn't the bunkers decision. Klein sent it up with a view of it being a strip and the bunker couldn't prove otherwise.

I'd have to look at it again, but my initial thought was that the way Moylan got his arm around the footy that it looked like a rake.

I thought it was a really good win for the Cowboys. In all honesty, they shouldn't have won it. Luck wasn't on their side from the out-set, their handling at times was really poor and their discipline wasn't up to scratch. However, the way they were able to shake that off and punch through the Panthers defence was amazing and some of the set-plays were brilliant. I particularly loved the try for Javid Bowen - I think 90% of the NRL would have given up that try, it was just so well executed.

Balmain belting the panthers at leichhardt on a sunny Sunday Arvo Late in the season was one of my favourite ever games. Packed house, 2 form teams and a virtual play off for 5th. Benny carved the pennies up and we won 33-6 from memory:cool:

Balmain beat us twice in a couple of weeks. The Leichhardt game was very close, I think that was the game John Cartwright got sent off trying to get square after being flattened by Bruce McGuire. We had another chance against Manly at home but couldn't get the job done then either. The play off for 5th was the carve up. 28-8 the score was.

Penrith had won 15 of 20 games before the Leichhardt match, but fell in a heap against the good sides.

The match you were thinking of was the last round in '89. We were safe in 2nd place but Balmain needed the win to make 3rd. It was 33-6.

Ahh your right I had them mixed up. Wow for years and years I've remembered that 33-6 as the last round of 88. Getting senile in my old age.
