different rules back then. Players couldn't freely change clubs like they can now.

Every player PNG is after most other NRL clubs will be too. They will pay elite money to a couple of above average players with locals in the rest of the squad
PNG effectively has 5.7 million more to spend than other clubs

plus living out west of Sydney or living on the beach in png ? It’s a wash

are they planning to build the compound on the beach ? how far away from the training facilities is it ?

And the kids are getting home schooled or put in an inferior PNG system?

PNG will be great for locals, won't be a great team on field though

Bigger pool of talent to work with plus part of the 600 million goes to elite and non elite pathways

their junior nursery will dwarf Penrith

but what’s that got to do with png being able to attract established players ?

believe it or not there’s a posh part of png

people can mock all they want but the players will be treated like royalty

The Tigers will be out of their funk by then … too many good kids coming through the ranks ..

The Hunters have not supplied a lot of talent to date that has gone onto the NRL

Yeah but Benji as coach

They haven't but they have supplied the ESL with guys. Getting NRL standard guys instead of ESL is the challenge but they have taken steps to fill the void.

Whether it gets them to not win the spoon is the question

they are going to live where they build the compound…. that hasn’t been announced yet… but I assume it’s going to be reasonably close to where they “work”

We will see how long Benji survives … Richo inherited him and I think he won’t think twice about moving him on next year if they are still at the bottom …

In relation to the Hunters …What steps are you referring to?

I guess they have the Hunters so aren't a complete blank canvas

They need to start junior teams in the QLD &/or NSW systems as quickly as possible, like next year quickly. Only 3 years left if they really are in 2028.

Options are:
U16 - Cyril Connell Cup (QRL) - 7 weeks + finals.
U17 - Harold Matts (NSWRL) - 9 weeks + finals.
U18 - Mal Meninga Cup (QRL) - 11 weeks + finals.
U19 - SG Ball (NSWRL) - 9 weeks + finals.
U21 - Jersey Flegg (NSWRL) - 26 weeks + finals.

Hunters should have teams Cyril Connell & Mal Meninga as of next year. Flegg side should be an aim in the next year or 2 as well as the only long running comp of the lot.

PM Vipers were looking at the possibility of joining NSW Cup a year or 2 back, wonder if they’d be interested in running a side in SG Ball or Flegg as a trial run.

All of this would need some of that government $ of course but might as well start it rolling if/when they make the announcement.

they need to start funding pathways next year … it’s going to be a bit half-assed though…but you gotta start somewhere

I believe they’ve already started pumping money in to the pathways in PNG itself. They will need to start integrating their best juniors in to the Australian comps sooner rather than later though.

All those comps except Flegg are only short so shouldn’t be impossible to get a couple teams up and running for a start.
