Don’t really want to sacrifice NZ 2 for Pasifika, although there is a large Pasifika population in NZ it’s still under 10% of the population, Moana Pasifika shows there’s not really an appetite for it in NZ and would rather an all inclusive NZ team.
Less than 10% of the total NZ Pasifika population lives in the South Island, Auckland is by far the biggest but you wouldn’t want to cannibalise the Warriors. Wellington is the only other realistic option it could have a chance but it’d be a hard sell.
Have a soft spot for the bears and Rams but NSW is not getting another team any time soon and Adelaide doesn’t seem to be on the radar.
Although might be easier for recruitment it might be tough to engage PNG not having the team actually based there
