One little article without much new information and it sparks constant post in 5 different expansion threads. Wow.

And people claim that the excitement regarding expansion has been diminished because of the process. Lol
On Sunday I was sitting just thinking geez it’s been quiet again and then that article.

Not PNG 2027 there would be way to much to organise, it depends of what the standard this compound is going to be ?, will it be like a five star resort ?, it would surely have to be of a very high standard and very family oriented to entice the top players and their families to want to live there.

So what do we think, there'll be an announcement this year?

I would think they maybe they're aligning ducks in a row to announce at least the next two teams together - Perth and PNG. Or would it make sense to do separate announcements at different times to give appropriate spotlight to each.

And then what of team 20, it seems that one is not as progressed as the other two. However it may also make sense to announce all three new teams together.

Ofcourse I'm hoping for an announcement of all three teams this year, but it's looking increasingly unlikely.

Edit - just read this article that says Perth bid is moving slower and unlikely ready to be announced this year. Then what do the NRL do, announce PNG as Team 19? Announce PNG but don't give indication of whether it's team 18 or 19? Wait till Perth is ready before announcing both together next year?

i think they want to announce perth and papua together however west aussies probably need to sign on the dotted line still to make it official. gut feel is that they have agreed to things and shook on it but probably needs lawyers to run through document proposal before putting the johnny hancock on the dotted lines.

i feel like v'landys wants to announce perth and papua together so he can side step the incoming hard questions about papua's actual viability with a few cha cha cha moves straight into saying "all will be revealed in due time" because they are actually unsure on how it'll work from a practical sense and then be like "anyways here's bears and west aussie's back in nrl! how good. any questions, ask away".

if they do announce them separately then it's to mount even more pressure on west aussie bears by saying here's papua they are 19th but could be 18th if we find they are ready to go sooner.

if i had a lazy $50 that's the slot machine i'd fire it in. i eagerly await to see what the expanionsita experts with inside sources have to say as they are the real in the know mvp's on this forum.

Ask yourself who is reporting and what they're reporting & why?! I can't answer any of your questions btw.

Together makes more sense, plus even if png is ready by all means via cash, they haven't come up with the mascot of sorts, something the wa has already sorted out, (colors bears)

PNG is a political stunt, it will be announced when it best suits Albos campaign to get re-elected. WA still work in progress, nz2 seems way down the priority list.

Stop making sht up. I never said that at all about brisbane. I said it should be a genuine brisbane 2 club playing all games at suncorp, not redclifee called ‘the’ dolphins appealing to just a section of brisbane, Playing some games in a sub standard stadium and leaving a gap that will require a third licence to fill.

The fact thre are already calls for brisbane3 to fill a gap not filled by the dolphins has merely validated my sentiments on dolphins not being the best strategic choice.
I see plenty of dolphins merch around Brisbane, and 80% of that are kids under 14,

there’s bloody people wearing phins merch in yamba and north coast too. they seem to be quite popular and on my last trip to seqld to see friends I saw heaps of people wearing phins merch around. I reckon I saw more people wearing phins gear than titans gear on the goldie.

That makes no sense. A PNG team doesn’t help anyone get re-elected or elected. You’re effectively saying it will never get announced. Which is just another thing you’re wrong about.
