1997 ARL theme song

Hi all

I have a question that I'm hoping someone here can answer regarding Ch9's ARL theme song for 1997. Does anyone know what it's called (and maybe who it's by)? It's an electric guitar instrumental song, and I heard it last night while watching Rage. I gather it was the theme to the ABC show 'Recovery' (but I'm not sure).

Ever since I first heard it 11 years ago I've liked it, but only really since last night would I like to track it down (as before that I didn't think it was a commercially available song).

If anyone can help, I'd be really appreciative.

Well be singing
When were winning
Well be singing

I get knocked down
But I get up again
Youre never going to
Keep me down

Pissing the night away
Pissing the night away

He drinks a whisky drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that
Remind him
Of the good times
He sings the songs that
Remind him
Of the better times:

Oh danny boy
Danny boy
Danny boy...

I get knocked down
But I get up again
Youre never going to
Keep me down

Pissing the night away
Pissing the night away

He drinks a whisky drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that
Remind him
Of the good times
He sings the songs that
Remind him
Of the better times:

Dont cry for me
Next door neighbour...

I get knocked down
But I get up again
Youre never going to
Keep me down

Well be singing
When were winning
Well be singing

Beat me to it, Azkatro

Tom Jones for sure, what were they thinking?? What A Game, What A Game.

The ARL Theme song I think was sung and performed by some members of The Choirboys.

Does anyone think the NRL could get away with having this as their theme song
in this day in age? I could see the daily terror now:
NRL SUPPORTS CULTURE OF DESPISEZ!!!!!!11

Nah, none of them is the one I'm chasing I'm afraid! Sorry!
The Tub-Thumping one was the 1998 NRL song, and I'm not sure what the Choirboys song was, but there was no vocals for the song I'm thinking of. Like I said, it was Ch9's ARL theme song (perhaps SuperLeague too ... never having watched a game of SuperLeague, I don't know either way).

If anyone (particularly Knights fans) has the 1997 ARL Grand Final on tape or dvd, it's the song played during the credits at the end.

I heard it again the other night while watching Rage, and it appeared to be one used to promote Recovery (so I assume it was it's theme song too).

I know the song, but i dunno what its called, It was used as background music for a couple of origin series as well , when a try was scored.

Not sure if this is what you're refering to, but the instrumental they use as the teams are coming out in the 1997 grand final is a piece called "The Olympic Spirit" by John Williams. It was the official song of the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Is it not on the credits for the DVD you mentioned?
Nope. Checked that already! That'd be too easy!

Nope, definitely not this one. I love it (and have downloaded it several years ago), but it's not the one.

I'm thinking I'm not gonna be finding this song any time soon ...! Keep the ideas coming though.

I might try e-mailing Ch9. I don't know how good they are at replying to e-mails, but I suppose they're the people that should know ...

Probably not what you are after... ABC TV used Prodigy's "Breathe" for the intro music for their Super League matches in 1997.
