Watched the rest of the test at a mate house, and could not believe after lunch Ponting didn't go with Johnson. I've never rated him but he was the only bowler likely, Siddle is just dead set aveage and who really expected Krezja to bowl us to victory at the WACA????? FMD Warne never did and he is the greatest ever. Wonder what changes will be made if any, and LOL @ Ponting for blaming the bowlers when in both innings they scored more runs than the top order :? How many wickets were thrown away in both innings?????

Good test

 at Ian Healy - should make all Australians cringe

RSA are simply a better side atm... The Australian attack seems completely toothless, and although he bowled well, it's almost like Johnson will continue to get wickets by default -because the others aren't up to it. Krezja is ordinary (bats well though), the second worst spinner I've seen in international cricket in recent times - he's saved only by the occasional selection of Nathan Hauritz

Especially funny that Smith and Kallis, two that the merkins in here bag endlessly, were pretty influential...

Australia showed enough to suggest the series will be highly competitive, it took the second largest run chase in history to beat Australia and considering we were 3/15 to begin with it was a good fightback.

with a target of 414 it was up to the bowlers to get the job done and they couldnt.

That's a very optimistic way of looking at it.

All you had to do was defend 414 and you couldn't do it.

Also, as much as people have been saying that it was the bowlers who lost the game, I think the blame is about evenly shared. Hayden, Ponting and Hussey failed and it was largely left to the tail to wag in both innings, particularly the second.

If it weren't for Mitchell Johnston and Brad Haddin, you wouldn't have been competitive at all

Also, you are the #1 team in the world, playing at home- I don't know if you should be too excited about the prospect of being 'highly competitive'

Lee need to show some f**king aggression with his bowling. The guy is a skirt who is just trying to make friends.

thats true, but what im saying is the game was there to be won and regardless of individual performances, it took South Africa well out of their comfort zone to win. The pressure is very much on Australia to respond with the ball. Australia struggled with depth with the ball, once SAF saw off Lee and Johnson they took to Siddle and Krejza picking on their inexperience as much as anything and that is what needs to be countered at the MCG.

its not about what i am excited about, its about what happened. South Africa won the first test and likely are safe from losing the Australian leg of the series.

Australia do have issues to address something which is obvious but i see no reason why they cant address them
