So you would have had Hilfy bowling from one end, i think we can both agree on that. Who would you have had on the other end? Johnson's bowling at times was woeful, no way he would have attacked the stumps enough. He probably would have bowled it off the pitch more than he hit the stumps, going by the way he was bowling this innings. Siddle was too predictable. Hauritz was worn down. North is a wrong option period. He didn't have alot of options to go to, so thats why i'm not going to crucify him.

I get the whole 'Hauritz and North get us more overs' argument, but here's the fact:

The only bowler who consistently threatened was Hilfenhaus. Hilfenhaus and 7 overs was more likely to get us the win than North and 11 overs. Quality trumps quantity here.

If it proves anything its that we need a bowler who's taken 90 wickets @ 22.

Stuart Clark not Brett Lee.

I would play both; Siddle, Johnston and Hilfy were inconsistant all game. Haurie bowled alright and probably the best of the 4 specialists.

I would have Clark instead of Siddle for Lords and Lee to come back in for either Johnston or Hilfy when fit. Lee and Clark are to guys who can reverse the ball with alot of accuracy. Clark is also >>> Siddle but I think their could be room for both of them on a seamers wicket.

Good to see Captain Clueless strike again, our best bowler all test match only bowl's 12 overs out of a hundred. Both times he claimed a wicket he was then taken off FFS  Ponting then has a whinge about a physio trying to deflect the blame from his inept captaincy, you'd think he would have learn't after the first innings.......

If he was so desperate about part time spin and getting more overs in then why not bowl Katich..Katich at least beat the bat a few times, North was useless. If anything Nortyh showed that we need a spinner in our side regardless of the pitch.

Hilfenhaus
Johnson (although he must improve big time)
Clark or Siddle (not fussed which one, probably Clark at Lords)
Hauritz (bowled well)

I still reckon it'll be a draw, whether be due to the weather or our bowlers taking too long to dismiss the English batsman........plus I put money on the draw

If one positive can be taken from the draw, it's that it has supplied me with drinking money for the second test and in the end, isn't that what really matters?
