Good session but the pitch is horrible. Australia would take 3/88 after losing the toss. Need to remove Root early next session.

I see Ch9 paid Mark Nickelarse and co. to go to the UK this time rather than sit in the studio in Sydney.

ANd with Ian Healy commentating, comfirming its the first time since 1997 that Ch9 have taken their commentary crew to an Ashes tour

Gee I wasnt expecting the Ch 9 commentators to cover the whole thing.

1997 they had pretty much, Billy, Tony, Richie (during his breaks from BBC), Chappeli, Boycott and I think Carl Rackemann. I wonder when the last time Ch 9 took their commentary overseas. 1999 World Cup ? Although I think only the final featured all Ch 9 commentators.

It's playing like a pitch at the local oval. Have they tried to make one with no zip at all to nullify johno and starc? It's just made it hard for everyone. These two and even cook survived quite well but it should be at least four for. Haddin has been good apart from that drop in difficult circumstances so it's hard to blame him. I thought lyon would have bowled more after his wicket.

Theyre fighting well. This is what you have to do in test cricket, especially when the going is tough. Bowlers need to respond with patience and strategy. I think Lyon is the key, even if he doesn't take many himself.
