Most of the Australian public don't care so much for this ODI series now that the Ashes are finished.

ODIs have lost their prestige in Australia over the past decade or so since the tri-series format was abandoned. The MCG crowd says it all.

Growing up with the tri-series format, MCG matches got good crowds, and ODIs involving Australia at the other venues were very difficult to get tickets to as they sold out quickly.
Use to book a couple of months in advance to get tickets at the Gabba. Already have freebies for Fridays game. Crowd of 10-15 thousand likely.

Our problem we should have scored more from Ali, another 10-15 at least. Our opening bowlers should have been tighter, they got away to a lightening start. Maybe bowl Zampa/Head for an over or two when it was carnige.

Am expecting us to come back hard next game

This is right upthere with the 80 odd we got rolled for v sri lanka a few years back. Getting absolutely demolished defending a score that NO SIDE had ever chased at the MCG. Roy's arsey knock has come off big time but our so-called front-liner quicks have been hammered. A complete annihilation.
304 was never enough on that deck.

That fat f**k getting out when set to the Beard cost us 350.

The bowling wasn’t great but once again our batting wasn’t good enough.

I dont think the MCG pitch rating has changed from being poor.

Nothing in it for the bowlers.

There was a good bit of chat on ABCs coverage about why it should be Lyon in both formats.

As an aside, the hate for Finch on here is getting silly.
Agreed.

The guy scores a ton but is still considered a fat nuffie. Where's the hatred for Warner and Head?

Because Finch got out to a shit shot just when we needed to kick on. Even worse to that pie thrower, him only going on 39 cost us the game.

As opposed to Warner who got a good one early.

Finch wasn't the problem, and Warner is a fine ODI opener (even though I don't like him) - you have Head, Marsh, Stoinis and Paine at 4-5-6-7... is that really what you want there?

I know you have better players than that, but the tail is too long, and there's too much pressure on the top 3 - who will win you some games along with the quality quicks

And the bowling plans... OMG, England are going to keep coming at you, and if they keep bowling like that they'll get smashed - Cummins is terrific, but the whole approach seems geniused
