I remember Tubby saying that the loss of 2 early wickets cancelled out any additional runs. That's fair enough if you're batting second and a projected total needs to be made as you go along, but not sure how that applies to a team expecting to face 50 overs when it should be about run rate more than anything.

I think it has a lot to do with the number of wickets that were lost before the rain as well as the run rate before the rain. The calculator itself is a very odd thing, I have tried using it and have not been able to work out what formula it uses to get its answers

Apparently if we lost another wicket we would have lost runs! Surely must be a fail safe for that situation.

I'm starting to think Duckworth/Lewis are less Professor Frink & more these guys..

pretty much. I read somewhere that Duckworth/Lewis uses "a complex system of tables and formulas" (sic)

can anyone provide a link to the actual calculator for d/l?

did a bit of reading on it last night but couldn't find the formula/calculator.

that one is not great. I remember having access to one which you could use for any point where it could be implemented. I think cricinfo provided the link. I might have it saved on my other computer
