Furthermore, I'd like to add: After so many years of Brisbane hosting the first test match of the summer, all of a sudden it's now deemed not just no longer suitable to host the first test of the summer, but no longer suitable to host a test match altogether (CA have not scheduled any tests at the Gabba beyond the 2025/26 Ashes).

It's like CA are throwing away the advantage the Aussie team once had (both tests that they lost at the Gabba in recent years - 2021 and 2024 - were held in mid-late January, rather than November)

His batting fell away for a quite a while. That 2023 Ashes series was a return to form.

Note in all but one example you have given he was the captain. I'd say that is the big factor. He carries responsibility and thrives in it like a lot of past Australian captains have.
