Was reading today that Worrall couldn't even get a grade game in Adelaide 4 years ago. I really dont know why we are persisting with Boland, its not as tho he is showing potential.

Australia viewers locked out of Ireland ODI

Daniel Brettig

Australia's ODI against Ireland in South Africa has been ignored by the pay television operator Fox Sports, leaving followers in Australia without a legal means by which to watch it.

The match, being played at Willowmoore Park in Benoni from 6pm Eastern Australian time, is being broadcast by SuperSport in South Africa, but was not purchased by Fox Sports as part of a rights package that features the five ODIs between South Africa and Australia that begin on September 30.

It is believed that the rights to the Ireland match were offered as a standalone proposition alongside the South Africa fixtures, with Fox choosing not to add it to their investment.

Ben Amarfio, CA's executive general manager, Media, Communications and Marketing, said he would have preferred to see the match broadcast. "Our preference would be for all of Australia's away matches to be broadcast in the Australian market," he said, "but ultimately that is the choice of rights purchasers to determine."

Very seldom is an international fixture played by an Australian side not broadcast back into Australia on Fox Sports. However, the network has in the recent past left it quite late in confirming their broadcast of matches.

The most recent example of this was the broadcast of England v Pakistan Test series earlier this year, which was left in doubt until a matter of hours before the series began at Lord's.

Fox Sports has just completed showing the first Test between India and New Zealand in Kanpur, and is also broadcasting the ongoing T20 series between Pakistan and West Indies in the UAE.

Cricket's relationship with the pay television operator was somewhat strained in 2013, when after Fox Sports broadcast the first two seasons of the Twenty20 Big Bash League, Cricket Australia sold the rights to the free-to-air Ten Network to dramatically expand the tournament's television audience. That decision led to a major scaling back of Fox Sports' cricket department to a small part of the business.

Cricket Australia, meanwhile, launched into a major digital partnership with Channel Nine in addition to the BBL deal with Ten.

A Fox Sports spokesperson declined to comment.

Have never heard of this Worrall dude but his domestic stats are ordinary - his List-A average is 35. Even Boland averages under 30 in List-A, and his ODI average is over 50 after 11 games lmao

Ugh the number of times Warner does that is ridiculous....checks his shot and gets caught when he'd probably be safe with a full blooded hit

Jeez, I thought there was more than a bit of grass in that effort from Parnell. Finch unlucky

f**k, that's a Shane Watson-esque review from Smith. And Bailey too, he seemed to have some input

It's a good pitch, but they are only halfway through the overs yet 5 wickets down, and still swinging hard.

Guess they figure they need a shit load to be competitive.

Unless Bailey smashes a miracle ton here, hard to see our 9th string attack defending a score like this.

I actually watched the first 25 overs of SA's innings and our bowling was woefull , game was over by the 15th over. DE Kock was faultless, brilliant knock.

Marsh dropped a catch on the boundary (off hastings) which would have got Rossouw out early and brought in plodder Du Plessis in, this might have made de kock play a little bit more defensive. Other than that our bowling was very pedestrian. We got pelted. Boland aint right for us has had a few goes now. Don't mind trying out some other youngsters but if they aint doing well domestically then I dont see the point (other than no one else) . Starc a massive loss.

Warner or Finch should have got a bigger score than that they done on this deck. Smith was disappointing and Bailey was too slow, though in his defence he did have to re-build our innings when Smith got out at 3/90, then MMarch at 4/131

0-5 whitewash on the cards. Our batsman need to deliver big time, otherwise we are no chance

All the bowlers (if we could call them that) went for over 7 and over.

I know we are using this to have a look at a few options but surely there are better than these plods
