I think its a little more specific than that - aside from Kane, the others are fairly average at playing spin - almost Shane Watson-esque to be frank. It was interesting the other night watch Williamson play a bog average innings against spin, but still get to 70 and nearly win it with next to no support (Munro aside). That showed mental class to me. Guppy in the last game was struggling with his timing and tempo but he held his nerve and caught up his strike rate easily. That was a positive sign.
Watching India v Australia, I think batting down under is not that much of an adjustment v bowling spin down under. My concern for the New Zealand bats is they're not really being tested by variation in spin at the moment. Imad Wasim had them tied up in stitches in game one, and basically he bowls one pace, and one length, all he tries to do is cramp you up. If you can't handle that basic approach, well, we're a bit light on in the subcontinent. Taylor is one example, the ball angling in and he goes to custard.
I know Guppy's every second man's favourite dog to kick, but my word he's had a hell of a home summer, in fact he's been par excellence in NZ for 15 odd months now. On its day the top 3 rivals most around the world, but I'm still concerned about the subcontinental wickets hurting our chances.
