Rightio we know the squad announced.

Whats the 1st test side?

If Warner is out injured who replaces him? If both Warner and Sunshine are out (birth of his kid, though kid may come later in the series by all reports) who replaces both of them?

They say the squad is selected because of depth What depth???

17 players is a lot especially with only one keeper selected. And it's in India which isn't that big a flight these days. Quite simply Smith, Doherty and one of the pacemen are excess baggage.

If Warner is unfit Watson slots in. If the spoiled brat has to fly home Hughes moves up.

I think of the 17 selected Watson is the one I despise the most.

X reckons Shield form is irrelevant..

http://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/australia/xavier-doherty-says-his-sheffield-shield-statistics-arent-a-true-reflection-of-his-form-with-the-ball/story-fn2mcu3x-1226566259465#.UQpL4B03ufU

Xavier Doherty says his Sheffield Shield statistics aren't a true reflection of his form with the ball..

AAP January 31, 2013 8:49PM

Tasmanian tweaker Xavier Doherty's first-class record this season of two wickets at an average of 80 isn't going to strike fear into the hearts of India's batsmen.

But Doherty, who fought off a challenge from fellow left-arm spinner Steve O'Keefe for a spot in Australia's 17-man squad named on Thursday, says his recent form in limited-overs international cricket has left him in a confident mood ahead of the four-Test tour.

Doherty's hopes of a recall, after playing in the Brisbane and Adelaide Tests in his debut series against England in November-December 2010, rest largely on just how spin-friendly the pitches of Chennai, Hyderabad, Mohali and Delhi turn out to be.

Offspinner Nathan Lyon is a certainty for the Test XI and spin-bowling allrounder Glenn Maxwell is circling for a possible Test debut, as is seam-bowling allrounder Moises Henriques.

"Growing up at (Hobart's) Bellerive Oval, you could probably understand the reason my bowling average (119 wickets at 44.78 in 51 first-class matches) is a little more than what most international spinners are,'' Doherty said on Thursday.

"If anyone had seen the wickets that we've served up at Bellerive earlier this season, you'd probably understand why I've only got two wickets so far.

"They're just trying to pick people who are in form. Stevie O'Keefe has bowled well over the last few weeks as well (taking 4-55 and 4-47 for NSW in last week's Sheffield Shield game against Western Australia).

"Having not played a Shield game for a while (since November), I guess my Shield form almost becomes irrelevant.

"They (selectors) have probably just looked at the last eight weeks.

"Having not had the chance to bowl the red ball, all I could do was bowl as well as I could in the form of the game that I was playing."

Doherty's recent form has been excellent, grabbing 1-30 and 2-21 in Australia's Twenty20 series against Sri Lanka after picking up 3-21 off eight overs in the fifth one-day international against Sri Lanka in Hobart on January 23.

"The best way to answer my critics is to put in and perform,'' Doherty said.

"But that's not the over-riding motivation for doing well. It's the chance to win some games for Australia.

"Playing at this level, you do get your knockers but that's just part of it."

Anything other than that side is a waste of time even showing up at the ground.

Clarke and Warner are better part timers than Maxwell, id say Clarke is better than Doherty..
Wade and Khawaja can bowl mediums if needed
Pattinson can hold his bat..

All rounder problem solved without hurting the batting line up intergrity.

I'd like to see that side, mainly cause of the batting. I doubt we'll get that bowling line up unfortunately.

love to see that Timbo but I think they will leave Oozie out and go with Sunshine

wouldn't surprise me if Oozie doesn't even get a run in India as they seem to just treat him like shit

If you pick the best 11 players from that squad I don't think its good enough to win a series in India.

Problem is they won't pick the best 11 in that side and we will get hammered.

I'd almost throw a lazy $10 (Thats half my weekly betting allowance) on Usman Khawaja not playing a game in India.

Or even worse he will play the first game and then be made the scapegoat for the Spoilt Brats 2 innings of between 10 and 30 and get dropped.

I think the $1 million show will bat 7 with Wade at 6. Watson to open, Cowan dropped Khawaja at 4

Warner
Watson
HAH
Khawaja
Clarke
Wade
The Assassin
The Great Notch
Starc
Siddle
Lyon

Notch will play. I'll put $10 and IanG's left nut on it.
