so they need a decent academy or three setup in the country it seems?

Have a couple of experienced scouts (not necessarily from Bangladesh) to tour the country and then promote the youngsters into the closest academy, all expenses paid (travel , accommodation, equipment etc..).

Easier said than done, but its something they need to do (help from india maybe? ICC ? yeah right !!!), it would provide huge dividends down the track. They are going nowhere as they are

Bangladesh do have cricket academies but only in the nation's capital. They need to branch out and look for ways to get in touch with remote areas.

Yeah they definitely needs scouts but BCB are a very incompetent bunch so it won't be happening. They did run a pace hunt program in which they discovered Mashrafe Mortaza and Rubel Hossain who are both currently in Bangladesh's national team.

They need neighbouring India to help out. One idea that i think would be fantastic is to have a Bangladeshi domestic team to play in the Ranji trophy. That would be a huge boost for Bangladesh as they would be able to versue much better players. But BCCI are a selfish bunch so this will never happen.

As i said the main initiative at the moment should be to start running academies of some sort in remote areas. They need to make pathways for players in remote locations. Paid expenses would be massive as well. If BCB plan this now then in 10 years time they will start to uncover good cricketers but no such planning is happening now so everything is bleak at this point in time.

BKSP is Bangladesh's leading institution for sport in the country and it has uncovered majority of the players in the Bangladesh cricket team. It goes to show that academies and institutions do work.

Yeah they should start but the board won't do jack. Coaches have complained about the BCB's management including our very own Richard McInnes who is the Bangladesh U19's coach. He complained about the board having no plan. Domestic cricketers don't take the comp seriously. Here in Aus a whole training regime is up and players are training hard in the pre season.

McInnes has also complained about the appaling diet. He noted that the diet of the national team consist of lentil, rice, curry etc. Foods like this will never help to develop a cricketer in terms of endurance in test cricket. The Bangladeshis just aren't fit enough for cricket. They just don't have the right build and that can be seen if you notice the lack of muscle in Shafiul Islam and also the overweight figure of Tamim Iqbal.

In Bangladesh they start training 2 weeks before the domestic season starts. That is why there are so many injuries to fast bowlers as they aren't maintained properly. That is why Bangladesh suck in tests. They just don't work on their game enough. That is why you see BD batsmen throwing there wicket away. They just don't have any patience in there game. Domestic cricketers just don't know the basics of cricket and haven't learnt it throughout there development process.

Note that the Bangladesh U19 team is always doing well (besides this time). They almost beat the Aussie side in the U19 World Cup and almost progressed through to the semis. About 2 years ago the U19 team toured England and they won the series. So there is no doubt that they have very good talent coming. Bangladesh batsmen Anamul Haque was the leading runscorer in the U19 World Cup. It is after the age of 19 where BD players regress due to lack of coaching and that is where you lose talented youngsters. In other countries like England and Aus you only get better from there.

If there is a revamp in there whole system from the board all the way down to grass roots then you will start to see results. At this rate the future doesn't look too bright for Bangas.
