Can anyon tell me why Fri nite games get 2 expreinced refs Archer/Badger and Sat nite games eg Bulldogs/Penrith got 2 rookies?

Why not mix it up except for Origin/Finals? say Sutton/Archer etc? Good job Finch! Way to develop Refs

Channel 9 requested those refs for Friday because they're a lot better looking and draw female fans to watch who don't like football.

To be honest, I don't think it really is an issue. The inexperienced referees did a good job IMO.

The only way to give inexperienced people experience is to put them in pressure situations.

Pretty simple I would've thought.

It's the age old employment problem. All companies expect and want to hire people with experience, yet they're not as willing to help people get that experience. The NRL should be commended.

Yeh. But as they both take control of the game at various stages. They would get experience. however they would be able to assess the way thee top ref's do certain things. eg how they talk to the players etc. It hasn't matterd 2 much yet.

I know it's not the same but would you put 2 rookie's cops partnered up together? No. same thing should apply here

Cops are charged with keeping public order and saving lives and such.

Referees are in charge of RL games. Dumb comparison IMO.

Just because they may not have much NRL experience doesn't mean they are rookies. Do you know how many Toyota Cup games they've refereed? Or other professional games? It's not like the NRL just grabbed two blokes who just graduated from referee school and shoved them straight into a first grade game.

I don't see it as that big a deal but if it were up to me i'd have one seasoned ref with one rookie sort of like a tradesman and an Apprentice. sure they will eventually learn if on their own but to watch someone with experience will only speed up the learning and process and having someone with experience backing you up would give the rookie alot more confidence in making a critical decsion then a fellow rookie.

Having said all that I like how the game is being officiated at the moment better than previous years

The standard of refereeing in 2009 is already streets better than previous years.
