i had a shocker on the weekend

Bradshaw + Pompeii + World Peace + Blur = CRAP!

Lonhro stamped dominance again and will win the Aust Cup. nothing against the opposition but up to 2000m he has got a hell of a head start

Alinghi did superb and i thought World Peace did OK. with more speed in the slipper, hopefully she can settle midfield and sprint past at the end. i put $100 on her in the slipper before the race @ $11.

best horse to run on saturday was without a doubt Keep The Faith. absolutely incredible. the horse seemed to be going pretty quick early to make sure it was leading on the fence and at the 300m mark just went and lapped them. was walking the last 50m and still only just missed out on Northerlys record

Seances is a horse I have followed for a while now and went really well on Saturday.

The run of Mummify was pretty good on Saturday. Led them up with Zazzman and then stuck on pretty well for third. Did a lot of hard work early and will be hard to beat if it runs the Sydney Cup as I expect it will. Pentastic (My Sydney Cup tip) got home well but usually takes a few runs to come on. Natural Blitz was the biggest disappointment out of that race just didn't go on.

Not many Blue Diamond winners go on and do anything, but this one could be something. Wager was great run and a very clever ride by Munce who nearly stole a Victorian Group 1 for Gai. I have question marks though over Alinghi for the Slipper rarely do the best 2 year olds win it and while Wager is a good 2 yr old it is not Sydney's best 2 yr old. Dance Hero and Not a Single Doubt are and these two could knock Alinghi off in the Slipper.

Victory Vein was pretty unlucky on Saturday and has come back really well, I have backed her at $81.00 for the Doncaster and she could be a big chance in that race. Ambulance I believe will run in the Doncaster and be the horse to beat, but I will stick with Victory Vein.

Very interesting to see what Hawkes does with Ambulance and Seances next up.

One last horse that ran on really well on Saturday was Fastnet Rock. Not sure about that horse yet could be a horse that wins a Group 2 or 3 race along the way might not be upto Group 1 class though.

I think everyone saw it mate but I do agree, it has a future. Maybe the Heroic or Fernhill at Randwick? Or spell him for a few weeks and look at Brisbane. The run of Dane Shadow wasn't bad in the same race. Remember he was first up in a group two and the only horse that beat him never went around a horse. Dane Shadow will pick up a lead-up race to the Slipper, I have no doubt.

I agree Nuffs with Keep the Faith. How easy was it going and it almost broke the record. As Richard Freedman said on Sky, this is a derby horse. I don't know anything in Sydney that would beat it at the moment.

Peter Snowden was talking Seances into Liverpool City cup in two weeks SR and then onto the Coolmore. I will be on again. Half Sister to Unworldly and Gordo, the family can gallop.

Are there any 2yr old horses that'd beat Allinghi?

Doubt it

I personally cant take betting in 1200m races like the one on Saturday. Blur, Into the Night, Mistegic etc etc...they all seem to take turns at winning, they are a bloody lottery to pick

Cheers,
Moffo

you're right, Moffo. what a great field. a true Group 1 field. when they went around the turn there were horses 6 & 7 deep with horses tracking everyone

i had a bet on it since i thought $5 on Blur was good value

Another nightmare weekend! Im on a seriously poor run of form

Reset is amazing. Can't believe it topped Thorn Park and Vocabulary

Could you imagine Private Steer, Lonhro and Reset in the same race? Goodness gracious me!

Ambulance was poor, but i think it wasn't showing all that it had

Makybe Diva won't lose another race this preparation

How did everyone else go?

Cheers,
Moffo

Had a shocker. Backed Ambulance like he couldn't get beaten. Don't know what to make of his run. Don't be surprised if they put him in the Canterbury Guineas.

Private Steer was awesome and has the Coolmore at her mercy in my opinion. I'm a Seances fan but I don't think he could near Private Steer's tail. She is flying.

Reset went well. Going to Australian Cup. I don't think he'll get 2000. Makybe Diva is going to the Australian Cup as well. Lonhro waiting for them both. I think the champ will have their measure though. He is a great horse.

I though Strafed went well in Melbourne in Elvostrem's race. A Hawkes horse on the way up and if anyone ever sees me put money on Kusi again, shoot me.

well guys. i actually had a great weekend on the punt

had $50 on Private Steer which i thought would win by a mile, listened to the radio and realised it won by 3 miles. great win by a great horse. the new sunline?!?! (maybe not THAT good)

Alive, had $25 e/w on Strafed. missed the race but i was told it was a great run. i'll probably follow it for a couple of starts

lost $50 on Vocabulary though which was a downer

had a flexi quaddie in sydney and put $25 on it. had 50% of the dividend but unfortuantely didnt have Gold Lottey in my calculations. this would have completed my great day

they were all my bets. my girlfriend told me to back Grey Song since it's her fav horse but i said it had no chance. she put her $5 e/w on and it produced one of the runs of the day to come 2nd. i'm following this one all the way to the Sydney Cup.

Grey Song is an unbelievable horse, what a run

I went down after work before and put $10 on Ambulance in the Doncaster into Makybe in the Sydney Cup

Im banking on Ambulance hitting back, but its a gun field. Steer will be hard to top

Century Kid may be getting on in years but 57 kg is a bit light for what he's been used to

i might have a go on him this weekend

and Regimental Gal in the Newmarket

Carael Boy with the weight pull is worth a dabble

i'll be having 4 bets on the weekend. walk in the TAB and walk out so that i don't waste more money

Century Kid has his lowest weight since Stradbroke and his last 2 runs were in Melbourne so forget those. first up last time won with 63kg on his back. $11 on fixed odds, i'll be taking the $15 on the tote tomorrow

Hinting is great value at $7. Shamekha will start fav but i think may struggle over 1400 first up

Regimental Gal ran well last start. should go well at the odds of $6

Starcraft was going great guns and then ran into some donkey called Reset which beat him by a long neck. i doubt Starcraft will only win by a long neck. he'll win more like Private Steer last week.

Shamekha = No over 1400m IMO

I think Ambulance will beat Starcraft tomorrow.

Carael Boy is way over the odds.

Race 6 or 7 in Melbourne is near impossible. I like Our Egyptian Raine, its a class above. Regimental Gal is the lay of the day ;-)

Anyone think Makybe will get Lonhro over 2000m in the Australian Cup? I think it will.

Cheers,
Moffo

well tipped Moffo.did you back him straight out or each way?
i think Carael Boy gets into the Doncaster now after winning that race.
bad luck on ther quaddie.i made it through to the last leg in sydney as well but didn't have Sequi but i only had it for 1%.

i think Lonhro might have a bit too much for these over the 2000m at Flemington but he can be vulnerable occasionally in some big races.

cheers

Put $10 on him to win...so it wasn't all doom and gloom 8)

Dont think Carael is a Doncaster winner, but it was a ridiculous price they put up yesterday.

Yeh, i had it going for 83% actually.....and bumptious was slightly rougher then Sequi at the end....but such is life

I rate Makybe over 2000+. Lonhro will have his work cut out, no way id take the $1.50 against Sound Action and Mummify. Lonhro has been xposed at this distance in the past. Anyway, its on a Monday....whats going on with that!

Cheers,
Moffo

Mate, you're a genius! I had a big night on Friday and slept through most of Saturday. It was probably a good thing considering the results I looked at. I would have had a pretty ordinary day. After Thursday and Friday nights, I am going to lay off the punt until slipper day when I;ll do the Rosehill-Wentworth Park double.

Makybe Diva and Lonhro is going to be a hell of a race. If Lonhro is vulnerable over 2000 anywhere (other than Moonee Valley), it would be Flemington, where stayers can wind up and beat him. I wouldn't have a million on him but Beadman is back on board and third-up, he still has the freshness to blow them away in a 600 metre sprint.

From a Slipper point of view, the wraps on Charge Forward this morning seem pretty good. I don't know. I am waiting for Hawkes or Waterhouse to produce one on a single preparation. Dane Shadow is a maybe but I cannot name a Woodlands 2 year old that has impressed me so far this season.

Speaking of Woodlands, I thought Ambulance's run was sensational when I saw the replay. Didn't have conditions to suit but if he contests the George Ryder next start, I'll be on for sure.
