2006 Melbourne State of Origin Tickets On Sale Today

13 December 2006

Tickets go on sale today (Tuesday, December 13) for game three of the Harvey Norman Rugby League State of Origin series to be held at Melbourne’s Telstra Dome on July 5, 2006.

Prices start from just $35.00 ($25.00 concession) with special travel packages also available through Qantas Holidays for NSW and Queensland residents. Ticketmaster can be contacted on 1300136122 or on line through www.ticketmaster.com.au, Qantas Holidays can be contacted on 131415.

The Melbourne game is an integral part of the most coordinated development package yet put in place to support rugby league in Victoria.

The 2006 game will be the first State of Origin clash in Victoria since 1997 when the New South Wales Blues narrowly defeated the Queensland Maroons at the MCG.

Prior to that, Queensland won at the ‘G’ in 1995, while the Blues took the points in the 1994 match that attracted more than 87,000 spectators (what was then a record Origin crowd and what is still the second biggest Origin crowd behind Telstra Stadium’s 88,336 in 1999).

ARL Chairman, Colin Love, said the league was looking forward to bringing State of Origin back to Melbourne.

“Melbourne is a spectacular sporting city and the fans here deserve the opportunity to see matches that represent the very best in Australian sport,” Love said.

Tickets for the State of Origin blockbuster, which kicks off at the Telstra Dome on Wednesday July 5 at 8.00pm, will be available through Ticketmaster from 9 am today (Tuesday, December 13).

I just asked 'permission'. It will be tops. I'll go to a storm game on one of the weekends as well.

And Dani - be happy about it being in melbourne FFS!

Dont get me wrong, im going to love it. Its just annoying as they basically gave us 2 days to find $100 for a ticket. But its not so bad as the 'best' seats are reserved for Storm members to buy until the end of January.
But man, im stoked as!
