Panthers crowd for the weekend was incredible. We've been terrible at home and still managed over 18k. Awesome.

I wouldn't count on 20K at the Cowboys for their first MNF home game. A significant number of our supporters drive 4-10hrs from Cairns, Mackay, Mount Isa and all points in between just to get to the game. It remains to be seen how MNF affects that figure. I have a season ticket but can't drive from Cairns because of work. Others without season tickets will struggle as well.

As a one off I think Townsville can largely cover the loss, especially with a credible visiting team and the novelty of Monday night. But give the Cowboys 2 or 3 Monday nights at home in the same season and there'll be a sustantial drop as the novelty wears thin and the lack of out of towners gets exposed. 19,000 for the Rabbits is my guess, but under 16,000 if they host another Monday night this year for any visiting team other than the Broncos.

It seems as though Canberra's travelling support has been supllemented with alot (more) of Canberra Natives.

At the moment, looking at the ratings and the crowds (particularly in the capital), it would appear that MNF is a gigantic success for the NRL!

Based upon the last two crowds the Raiders have had, its a bit of a shame they aren't meant to have another MNF game this year.

That said, maybe because the Raiders are now playing more expansive football under Neil Henry, the crowds will stick around?

I'm torn about publicity on this... do the NRL advertise how well the crowd figures are going, or do they keep mum about it and hope it keeps going.

I'm concerned extra publicity about it may see fans get complacent and not turn up :?
