But as a retailer I know if I ordered a Parra Jersey from ISC it would come with the sleeve sponsor as Mounties and they would not give me a discount, I complained last year when the 1st batch I got didn't have SEW Eurodrive on the back and they told me they wouldn't even make any of those til the others sold out. The wholesaler is the main cause of these problems but from the publics point of view they all blame the retailer.

End of the day, the customer is getting ripped off. Retailer and wholesaler pocket the cash. Not right and creates a bad image for the NRL.

Could be really interesting to see if pissed off fans register a complaint to the Department of Fair Trading.
Especially if retailers (Peter Wynn Score, Rebel ) are using images of outdated Parra jerseys in their advertising and saying that they have 08 jerseys in stock.

As I said before if the wholesaler was willing to give a rebate or swap the stock the retailers would do something but you can't expect them to sell them and lose money on them or make next to no mark up? If your boss told you that you had to work for 1/2 pay this week coz he has some old stock he has to dispose of or discount would you be happy?
Retailers have family to feed and bills to pay too, I thing some people forget that and think that they are making massive wages and profits and ripping off customers when most are just putting food on the table.

If the jerseys were marked up the same as other sporting goods and at some places they are they would retail for $200. In some country areas the retailers are selling them for between $180-$220.
The Storm jersey are made by Reebok who have had a major price increase on last years prices so expect the Storm, Manly and Titans gear to be more expensive than other teams.
ISC had a very minor increase of about $1.50 wholesale.

I'm guessing that you are a smaller retailer with no corporate backing - most larger companies, and I work for one of the largest retailers in Australia - push for rebates and price protections for outdated stock otherwise they refuse to sell it and return it.

As a smaller independent store it is hard to do that I understand - problem is while your markup may be negligible a place like Rebel Sport makes a good deal more out of a jersey than you do in terms of rebate.

The wholesaler makes his money back through the smaller companies. The NRL and the consumer needs to put more pressure on the prices of NRL merchandise otherwise it will contoinue to climb higher.

so this justifies ripping off the customer ?

why can't the retailer buy from the wholesaler ONLY when all the sponsors have been confirmed?

If they could make a sponsored jersey that retails for $100 the sales of jerseys would go by 50%.
There has been a call for some time that the maybe changing the fabric or getting them all made off shore could reduce the price but no one has done anything about it.
Also Nike has said that the numbers are too small to get them made any cheaper, manufactering costs go down as the numbers go up. Basically here in australia we pay too much for a lot of things due to the size of our population (21mil).

don't you think the manufactors should sell to the club shop at the same price as the majors (rebel and others)so that at least if we buy from the club the money goes to the club.......
just a curious question

The NRL get a percentage of all sales and that is distributed back to the clubs as part of the grant.
But if you buy from the club the profit goes to them as well.
So by all means by from the clubs shop and help fund the club.

Firstly, all jerseys are licensed to the NRL...... the clubs only receive money from the sales of jerseys in places like Peter Wynns, Rebel Sport etc in terms of the grant they receive each year from the NRL. The club would possibly receive a percentage of the proceeds for items that they sell at Parra Footy Heaven but that would also be more likely to come as part of the Leagues Club grant again.

I believe that manufacturers should sell jerseys at the same price to all retailers however big companies like Rebel Sport have a buying power that far outweighs smaller companies. The manufacturer isn't going to sacrifice a major part of their business sales to make sure that a club is making money...... the manufacturer bought the licencing deal from the NRL rather than the club itself.

i love jerseys btw

Nope, nothing like it. The away jersy is very different but the only change to the home jersy is the centenary logo.

It would depend I guess, are the Eels in the market for a sleeve sponsor? I know in our situation last year as has been mentioned it took until late February to secure our sleeve sponsor and as such our release date was pushed right back.

Having said that, we had brand new jerseys - you guys will be carrying the same ones through and have already had some, albeit incorrect, produced.

Time will tell I suppose.

So I am assuming we still don't have a sleeve sponsor if these are on Parra Footy Heaven...

The Centenary one looks pretty cool tho... and no sponsors at all!

Wouldn't u think the eels management would of told ISC to not put a sleeve sponsor on the 2008 jersey?

as far as Peter Wynn's store know, that's the jersey that have been coming in from ISC and still selling at the normal price.

if Mounties have drop the sponsorship, there are gonna be a heap amount of supporters not very happy after purchasing these jerseys...
