Who do you think would be our best backup options? Looking at our 2010 list there isnt really a standout

Seems Daniel Fitzhenry has been slated a the first choice as backup (sort of a John Morris pt2??).

Yea it seems that fitzy will be first choice but only provides a mediocre backup option at best.

Maybe one of the state cup players could be an option or Corby from the 20's last year

So I guess in hind sight and with Robbies bad back and new potential rep commitments, letting go of Flannagan, De Gois etc over the last few years was pretty stupid on the head coach's part...........

Lord knows- I wont castigate Teflon over that- you can only make decisions at the time with the personnel you have on books- with Flanagan there was Morris in the background as replacement for Farah so why fight to retain him if he wants to go? (and I believe he did want to go for a shot at first hooker which couldnt happen at WT with Farah there). I'll weigh into Sheens on plenty of other things but not that one.

Corby is likely to be the Magpies starting 9 so could be in the mix. Waters can also do the job there at a pinch.

You can't make people sign contracts. De Gois was being mentioned as a possible NSW Hooker, do you honestly believe that he would have signed for pocket money to get maybe a few games a year when he's now getting quite good money to play 20+ games a year?

corbys in the summer training squad so i guess that means he is in the mix. is more your traditional distributing and defensive hooker as opposed to the modern play making one. this isnt a bad thing imo.

otherwise we have fitzhenry and flanagan who can play there. plus the state cup options of carr and waters, although im guessing they are down the pecking order.

im just stoked we wont have to see morris or halatau filling in there ever again!!

Yea ive heard that corby has been training really well in the summer squad and doing all the right things.

Lol i didnt actually mind halatau from dummy half in 2005. He really made some good meters up the ruck and caught some defences unaware

2005 fine but 2006-09 he did not really develop any further and did little of note.

Not at all.
We even have a ready made scapegoat in Fitzy to transfer all the fan rage on to.

Great recruitment there. Like the swap and go gas replacment bottle places. Hardly even a blink and someone new (new?) to bear the brunt of fans angst.

TBH- I dont mind Fitzhenry, like Beau Ryan- not a superstar but solid and honest. Nothing wrong with that- as long as he can do his bit I'm happy.
