Refreshing to see that the Rorters junior development programme is going the same way as usual, just venture out to Panther/Eels territory and pay up.

Have they ever changed?

We exchanged them for Shane Shackleton.. You know the guy we developed for the last 5 years only for the Eels to resume their failed big spending policy of the past.. He did well to get $200K + a season considering he played less than 10 decent games in that time.. Sounds like we came out a winner there :D

Parra recruited Dan Cross and Royce Hura for this years Toyota Cup from the Roosters SG Ball team. All teams recruit from other clubs.

Royce Hura was a Parra junior, who couldn't continue with the travelling and Dan Cross was basically cut by the Roosters and picked up.

My comment was basically directed at the way the resruitment is done, and the lack of development, I realise there are not too many teams out latte way, but there is a sense of "here we go again" from Panthers and Eels followers.

All teams recruit from any area if the player suits their needs. All teams have a preference to recruit from their junior league first. The Roosters have a junior league that is 1/15 the size of Parramatta's so their need to go outside their junior area is greater. It is an open market.
If the market was regulated in a way that you must represent from your junior area only.
If your son represents Parramatta and is given ten grand to do so, but Penrith pay 15 grand and pay school fees to a top private school to their players you would be peeved that Parramatta does not match them. Parramtta does not need to because their is no competetion to do so because players can only play for them.

True, Morley, I guess it was an observation that the more things change the more they stay the same. Actually, I know one of the biys and I hope he does well for the Roosters, and they did offer a fair bit more, perhaps that is a reflection of the depth of position at certain clubs.

Anyway, coaching has a more to do with the NYC teams performance than most of us realise, having the 2 Western Sydney clubs not make the 8 in 2009, is a statement to that and a fair bit of raiding of the juniors.

I have my sources. I don't know too much about them. That Peppers seems to have a lot of inside info on the comings and goings of all the clubs, he may know. I think he may work for one of the papers with some of the stuff he has told me.

Yeh I've had a chat to Bernie and Walker for the local paper. Bernie is a confident little chap who plays a bit of centre, five eighth and number 5.
Walker on the other hand is a real goer who's strength is his training. He really puts in.

Not sure. He is a north coast lad and there aren't many Walkers around up here so not sure.

The interesting fact about Bernie is that he wore a Bon Jovi Tshirt to the interview. I just thought that really weird.

Sort of - only interviewed them. They hadn't signed yet. They are very very good mates these two. Inseperable.
